liljay17, what US carrier do you plan on using the phone with?
Your profile says "t mobile", and their 3G network is in its infant stages and is being built on the newly-available AWS spectrum (1700/2100MHz). There are NO phones available AFAIK that are available to take advantage of that AWS spectrum even if the network was available in Chicago.
Cingular's 3G network is in its adolescent stage and user experience varies tremendously (just read for a while in the Cingular forum...). Cingular's 3G network is presently built on 1900MHz, with future plans to include 850MHz and probably also the 1700/2100MHz spectrum they bought in the AWS auction last year. So, again, the phones you're looking at won't work with Cingular's 3G network, either.
