to 3g o not to 3g that is the question

3g still wont work as they operate on 2100mhz only. We need 850/1900 UMTS which at this moment isnt available on any S60s so importing wont do you any good. btw..of the above mentioned phones I would take the N70 if you dont need the 850 freq. I loved that phone until cingular started Cblocking 1900 in my area.

liljay17, what US carrier do you plan on using the phone with?

Your profile says "t mobile", and their 3G network is in its infant stages and is being built on the newly-available AWS spectrum (1700/2100MHz). There are NO phones available AFAIK that are available to take advantage of that AWS spectrum even if the network was available in Chicago.

Cingular's 3G network is in its adolescent stage and user experience varies tremendously (just read for a while in the Cingular forum...). Cingular's 3G network is presently built on 1900MHz, with future plans to include 850MHz and probably also the 1700/2100MHz spectrum they bought in the AWS auction last year. So, again, the phones you're looking at won't work with Cingular's 3G network, either.
