TN governor vetoes "guns-in-bars" bill again

personally, I'm just playing devils advocate here. I don't see anything wrong with being strapped at the Outback Steakhouse. However, bars are a completely different story. I seriously doubt there would be any serious incidents with it, but theres just way too much crap going on at many bars to where someone could honestly say they have complete control of their weapon.





and this right here is why I'm not a "gun person". I understand and appreciate your position on this issue, but not every piece of legislation regulating guns is evil. Banning pistol grips on rifles and requiring fixed magazines is retarded. Banning people from bringing a weapon into a chaotic place where physical confrontation and contact between people is almost guaranteed is common sense.
 
I guess I don't have a warrant. Just a theory. Have you ever seen police officers who are trigger happy? Are cops with guns likely to be negotiating types? In a bar room brawl, is someone with a gun more likely to turn the other cheek and walk out, or draw one's weapon?

Right, and like I said, I doubt I'd ever do it. But if I were to set foot into that establishment, I'd be breaking the law. Whereas a criminal has no qualms about walking into the same place (where I cannot legally be armed) with a gun, so the only people this law affects are law abiding citizens (as with all other anti gun legislation).



I'm glad you realize this, a lot of people are seriously convinced that makes some kind of difference. But in regards to the other part, see above.
 
All for responsible gun ownership. I don't considering carrying a gun into a bar responsible.

If you're going to a bar where the judgment of others and possibly yourself is impaired...I don't see how a weapon for personal protection is a necessity. You're acting outside the realm of personal protection by entering an area of impaired judgment.

I wouldn't say this applies to your home. But certainly in public.
 
Your argument makes sense in a world where tiny volcanoes tend to pop up near unsuspecting citizens hundreds of thousands of times every year, without warning.

Comparing geological phenomena to human-perpetrated crime... brilliant...
 
It's not relevant to the issue of guns in bars, though. Any more than arguing alcohol is legal so why not weed?
 
Won't somebody PLEASE think of the responsible gun owners who like to sit in drinking establishments and not consume alcohol!?
 
Whats the difference in my actions in carrying a gun while eating a burger in a resturant that serves alcohol and one that doesn't serve alcohol if I am not drinking at either? Now what is the difference in my actions by choosing to have an open can of beer in my car and choosing not to have an open can of beer in my car?

And people in a bar don't have to drink. If those people don't drink, there should be no restrictions place on whether on not they can carry is legally allowed to do so outside of the 4 walls of that bar..

But I'm trying to reasonably determine which person I should have the issue w/ next time I go out.
That's what I can't understand.....w/ or w/o the law... I want to know who has the gun, good guy or bad guy it doesn't matter, I just wanna who has the gun.

People are assuming that if the law passes, everyone in the place has a gun now.....well at least someone has a gun in the bar, correct? But who do I have an issue with? Everyone just because it is possible that someone has a gun?

Fuk it....I just want know how to distinguish who has the fukking gun!
 
Not only that, I'm just saying someone in possession of a gun may be more overconfident of a situation and less cautious. And mixing that with alcohol is a dangerous combination, I believe.

I'm all for conceal and carry and gun rights, but guns and alcohol?

That's where I draw the line. This isn't Nam. There are rules.
