"TMNT" Talkback (Spoilers)

Great, fun movie. I have to give this film a lot of credit for being a movie that fans of any iteration of the turtles (comics, cartoon, movie) can walk into and enjoy.

Do have a question for the Die Hards. At the end when Splinter is putting the helmet on the shelf with the other "collectables", what all was references to past stuff? I recognized Shredder's helmet and the ooze canister. I figure some of the other stuff was fan fare too.

This movie was awesome--pure enjoyment from first frame to last. The animation and action scenes were AMAZING, it was just the right length, and Mako and the turtles' voices were excellent.

I managed to see an early screening using tickets my brother picked up in his college. There was a good distribution of Kids&Parents and Kids@Heart. There was this one annoying woman behind me who felt as if the movie theater was her own forum for announcing her every play-by-play opinion.
Most of it was positive, but I'd really expect a nerdcore-leaning 20-something to be a little more aware of the "don't talk so everyone can hear you" rule in theaters.

Just came back from seeing it and it was such a nostalgic rush. I loved every bit of it. It was a smart move for them to go completely CGI for this movie cause they couldn't have pulled off everything like this in a live action movie.

I really liked how they didn't over do the sillyness of the way the turtles talked, like how we were so used to seeing back in the old cartoons. There was a good balance of comedy and drama, and there was good character development, especially for Ralph and Leo.

The whole ancient warrior plotline was okay, but I guess it was a good change also. I can't remember how many times the whole Turtles vs Shredder thing has been done to death. Yes, it's a classic storyline, but it was good that they went beyond that one plot, and said "Okay, we've defeated Shredder and the footclan already, so where do we go from here?". I thought the fact that we're coming back so many years later with the turtles broken up and rejoining again was a good story choice. It certainly worked well for the movie.

I really loved all the action as well. Lots of great camera work, and fights. My favourite part was definitely when Leo and Ralph fought in the rain. The animation and the CGI was also very good in this movie. It was right up there, if not better, than Pixar's Incredibles animation wise.

The only thing I didn't like when I watched this movie tonight were that there were so many little kids!! God I had the hardest time trying to listen to some of the narration and plot point in the movie when they were talking about the myth. Little kids left and right not shutting up about every single thing. But that's hardly the movie's fault. If I get the chance to go see it again, then I will, otherwise I'll definitely be buying this when it comes to DVD.

Overall, it's good to see the turtles back. It's been too long. :D

I have a question. When the female leader of the Footclan mentioned that they will see familliar faces from the past, did she mean...Shredder? I hope we do because they can make him so dark and he would look great in CGI.

I got Bee Movie(Why is Jerry Seinfeld doing this?), Fred Claus(Oh boy, more Vince Vaughn buddy movies), Harry Potter(Not that much of a fan), & Underdog(I have nothing to say).

According to boxofficemojo, it was produced for $34 million. $25 million is very good, but it'll probably need to do double its production budget to get a sequel greenlit. Pass the $100 million mark if we want the sequel greenlit soon.

It was a pretty enjoyable popcorn flick. They did a fantastic job with the budget and most characters, except for a few of the humans, were designed very well by Jeff Matsuda [of Jackie Chan Adventures and The Batman], and the animation was solid. Kevin Munroe did a fine job directing it. Hopefully, The Weinstein Company can put out some more animated films that are more like this and less like Doogal.

As usual, Mako had a brilliant performance, Patrick Stewart was awesome, the Turtles were cast well, and Sarah Michelle Gellar, Chris Evans, and Zhang Ziyi fit the parts of April, Casey, and Karai. [strike]Cowboy Curtis[/strike] Laurence Fishburne did a good job with his brief role as the narrator and Kevin Smith's cameo was fun.

Leonardo and Raphael's relashonship was one of the better aspects and their battles scene was great. One of my favorite moments of the movie was when they're fighting thousands at once and Splinter goes all Yoda on them. Some of the lines in the movie were funny also ["No, sir. I'm not playing hard to get, it's not that kind of phoneline."; "Well, you did look like a giant metal turtle"; Splinter being a fan of Gilmore Girls].

It wasn't all good, however. Although many of the non-human designs looked wonderful, a few of the humans didn't work for me. April O'Neil's design was way too thin [my friend said, "Whoa, look she's anorexic when she came on screen."] and Max Winters looked like a slightly altered version of Mr. Incredible. The villians were just okay overall. Too much of the music was from stuff you hear on the radio but it was mostly fine and the audience loved that they had "Black Betty" on the soundtrack. The jokes were below average and I didn't really like any of the puns. Fortunately, though, they never uttered the term, "What the shell?"

Overall, it exceeded my expectations and I give it a 3.5 out of 5.

The people at the showing I was at were pretty much just parents/grandparents with their kids/grandkids, college students from a big college that is within walking ditance from the theatre, and a few adults who went alone. My theatre showed trailers for Are We Done Yet, Underdog, Fred Claus, Harry Potter and the Order of the Pheonix, Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer.

Saw it with my friends last night. Compared to the similiar plot structure of another recent super-hero franchise relaunch, I'd gladly take TMNT over the disappointment known as Superman Returns. Loved Ralph vs. Leo, the homages to the previous three films (in the form of Splinter's trophy room), and Splinter's love of soap operas. To make matters more fun, after dinner, we pulled out the whiskey and popped the original film into the DVD player. Good times...

Finally saw it today, I loved it, but the audience was lacking.

There were only two families in the theater besides me and the people I went with...probably around 12 people in the theater altogether. What the hell? It was pretty abysmal to see so few people show up in only its second Sunday.

I think the show could have used more fight scenes, especially with the stone generals at the end. Would have loved to see Don and Mike get their spotlight that way, but alas.

If there is a TMNT 5, (never thought I'd say that, its nice to see a TMNT 4 after these 14 or so years), PLEASE tone down the Leo and Raph. They're my two favorite Turtles but I completely understand fans of especially Don.

With Karai being a major character for TMNT 5 presumedly Leo will still have a lot of focus, but dammit, get more Donny in there! I'm really hoping Baxter Stockman is in the next movie so Donny has some good scenes.

Its actually kind of surprising that 4 TMNT movies in and Baxter has never been introduced. Anyone want to see him and the Mousers working with Karai?

That might be cool. I personally would love to see the Utroms and/or Triceratons.

Movie 5 will almost certainly be about the return of the Shredder.....

Well since the movie only made 9mil in its second weekend, the chances of a sequal are slim.

Its at a total of 38mil, so while they're making a profit it won't be enough to greenlit a sequal. Unless of course course WB doesn't distribute it and they go with another company for the sequal.

As people have stated on other boards.... WB almost strong armed celebrities into the project, so why didn't these celebrities do the local talk show circuit? The ONLY thing I saw them do was a you tube link where they just read from a script. 'The Turtles is such a strange idea....blah blah blah'....same thing everyone seems to say.

Considering it made 40 mill with almost NO Advertising campaign, that's pretty impressive. But who knows how the minds of a movie studio think...if they think at all
