Titanic Special Edition

I believe from what I've heard, that the Alternative Ending involves Old Rose being found with the diamond by the man on the ship. They then argue about it.

Thats all I've heard and nothing confirmed that that is actually the Alternative Ending
 
For the person who asked...

Its split onto 2 discs the film because there was not enough room to have it all on one disc this time. The picture quality and sound etc + deleted scenes etc forced them to split it up.
 
I've not really noticed that much difference in picture quality, to be honest (although I've just noticed that it's marked as a 16x9 Anamorphic HD Transfer, so maybe it'll look outstanding on HDtv's), and I can't really speak for the remastered sound as I just have it coming out of the two tv speakers (I'm not one of these for filling my living room with speakers for the 'home cinema experience' - on a tiny screen :D ) but what you're really getting with this is the film with full-length commentaries and two discs of extras. The
 
Oh yeah, I remember reading that too, and I bet you're right it is the "alternate ending". I think he tries to get it from her, and it drops or something. Sounded a rubbish scene, hence it was dropped.

There was a bit of fuss before the film's release about a bigger chase scene with the pistol between David Warner and Leo (the scene cost $1m and was cut, apparently), so that might be fun to see - and see why it was cut! Then there's the stuff filmed on The Californian, the nearby ship that sent ice warnings. Me wanna see...
 
In the 'Trailers' section, has anyone seen the 'Unused Action Trailer' yet? The quality of this is a disgrace - it's like one of those pirate copies they warn us about at the start!! Surely 'Jim' and the powers that be could have secured a better quality copy from Lightstorm than the one they were supplied with!
 
I have no shame in saying that I cry buckets when I see the film. Infact it start at the point when the water crashes through the bridge onto the Captain and from then on I'm in tears almost for the rest of the film.
 
this is the shape of the version shown in the cinema
the "letterbox 16x9" means it is formatted for those tv's, as in it's an anomorphic format ..... as when the picture is stretched to fill the widescreen frame of these tv's.

it's a little confusing to have "16x9" and the actual frame format of the film on the box IMO ..... don't worry though, it's in 2.30x1 format, with the black bars at the top and bottom

it's in the proper format :cool:
 
Ah good, I'm pleased. :) I remember as well that when the first videos of 'Titanic' came out there was a difference between some of the scenes in the Widescreen and those in the regular format, or there was some cropping done to achieve the best possible visual result when not in Widescreen (I remember James Cameron talking about it). All obsolete now, of course.

One of the highlights I've discovered today is the 'Crew Video' which is 20-minutes of backstage fooling around and is something usually only distributed to those who have worked on the film - nice to have that here, and it's also really funny (and look out for guest appearances by Cecil B DeMille and the SS Poseidon, no less!). "Do you know what I mean?" :D
 
I dont like how the movie is spit on two discs but its still a great movie and the dvd well worth getting, its the only movie that can bring a tear to my eye its great. the dvd has great extras and perfect picture and sound. If you love Titanic the dvd set is sure for you. :D. wow only movie that ever brings a tear to my eyes each time i watch it haha ;)
