Titanic Special Edition

No I think Leo is a total minger, Ive never found him in the slightests bit attractive. He always looks greasy, like he's never had a wash.

I don't understand the disdain heaped on this film. I clearly remember there being queues to get in for this one for weeks.

There has been no film as epic in scale since and none where the whole country had the must see mindeset with only maybe Gladiator coming close in either area.

I remember seeing it at a premiere when the word from the USA was that it was going to be a giant flop. 20 minutes in I could tell it was a quality film. For the last 30 minutes the whole cinema audience was silent, totally shocked at the horror unfolding and when it was finished grown men had distinctly moist looking eyes.

Wish there were more rubbish films like this.

If its an extra 58 minutes of a naked Kate Winslet I won't getting the Special Edition, if its just 58 minutes of boring crap like 97% of the film then I'm not bothered by it and won't be getting it.

What s/he said ! 8 years on I still get a little rush of excitement and anticipation when I prepare to watch it - not many films have that effect on me. I think it has such a universal appeal - the love story for the romantics, the mechanics of the ship for the domeheaRAB (sorry no offence...can't think of the word I want), the history for the ..err historians and fantabulous special effects for everyone. Even if there is one/some of these aspects that doesn't appeal to someone, there should be something that enthralls and captivates.(For example- I for one am not a huge fan of the love story, but do see the need for it in order to allow the viewer to move around the ship and take in the events unfolding... just wish it wasn't so hammy in places !)

Not even if there was gun held against my head. I hate hate hate this film so much. The only time it ever got to be good was when the ship sank cause then you knew you were soon to be released from a hell of your own making. I hope the DVD sinks like the ship did.

Virgin are selling a 5 disc limited edition. Anyone know what the 5th disc is? Given the damp squib that the rest now is since Cameron has ripped the proper docco out of it, I'm hoping against hope that there is something worth having here...

I think i`ll get the 4 disk edition. I like the film depsite leo craprio being in it. Its not something you can watch repeatedly like Rambo 3 but its a decent telling of tragic event. With kate winslet naked.

I was going to ask as well which region I should get since both are the same price, but it seems the R2 has more stuff for the money. I did wonder why R1 was only 3 discs and we got 4. I'm surprised really as America usually get the better stuff ime, but there you go.

I believe its Ghost of the Abyss.

I'm not shown if it was ever shown in the UK, but its James Cameron going back to the wreck of Titanic. Documentary kind of film I believe.

The 4 disc set should be good. The picture quality and sound I expect to be very good, especially as the film is split between 2 discs.

There is going to be a 4 disc edition? I'm sure if you wait it will go very cheap fairly fast. I remember seeing titanic for 99p. :)

I got mine today and I'm not sure if I'm all that impressed. First, the film is split in half (not unlike the ship itself :D ) whereas the old version has it all on one disc. Why was it necessary to have the film occupy two discs? Then there are the long-awaited extras - two documentaries (both of which I had already and are NOT new, they originate from 1997 - 'Titanic: Heart Of The Ocean' which incidentally also featured the '1912 News Footage' that they are trying to pass off on this as yet another 'extra' and 'Breaking New Ground'), the deleted scenes which are fine to see, the commentaries (which I haven't had time to listen to yet) and some 'Titanic' send-ups from 'Saturday Night Live', etc. Hmmmm. I have some DVRAB at home from the time of the release with the likes of Barry Norman reviewing the film on 'Film 98', Kate Winslet appearing on 'TFI Friday' to promote it, 'French & Saunders' doing a great spoof with 'James Macaroon', etc., all of which I'd say would have made far better extras than those geared more towarRAB the American market that we have here. And do we really need the French trailer?
