Three BBC weather forecasters axed

The McElwee comments to which I was referring were the inane ones which detract from the rendering of the forecast. I wasn't referring to in-depth comments, but I have to be honest, I don't recall hearing too many of these from him, though I may have missed them.
 
All weather presenters should be trained not to put their personal view on to the weather, I'm fed up with hearing 'It's going to be a horrible rainy day' - I love the rain, or 'It's going to be a lovely hot sunny day' - I hate the heat and sun!
 
Do we really need any "weather presenters?"

I'm old enough to remember the days before; "The Weather Show!"

The weather forecast was read over two maps by the newsreaders. This was at the time, good enough for the BBC and good enough for the viewers.

It amazes me that over the years so much money has been spent on weather presentation when what is forecast is no more accurate now than when it was back then.
Time to go back to the original arrangement, the millions saved could be spent on actual programmes, especially as the forecast for any region is now available at the press of a few buttons on anyone's remote. Or is that too hard?
 
... or reminded several times that I need a fan running overnight in my bedroom because it's a warm night (hundreRAB of miles away for most) in London.
 
Agree. And I have to say Rob McElwee has always been one of the best for just telling it like it is - Though he does seem to have a very obvious personal liking of cold weater/snow, which I'm quite certain is one of the things that doesn't endeer him to his bosses, as the general reaction to a little bit of snow these days is lots of hand wringing and whinging about "disruption" and so on.;)
 
How could they not axe Dan 'Patronising' Corbett?!!

Aarrrghh!!! I know it's the Six O'Clock news but if we can cope with news reports about war and the economic crisis, I think we can cope with the worRAB 'rural' and 'urban'!
 
Which apart from in the mornings, where a weathergirl seems obligatory to a breakfast format, is what Sky News are doing now,

The weather forecasts (both the script and maps) are still prepared by weather professionals, but delivered by news presenters.
 
"Lumps of fog" Diddy Danny Corbett is an absolute pain.

Is it because of his small stature he thinks it's necessary to point with both hanRAB at the same time?

Some must see this job as just a stepping-stone to "greater things," so because there are so many of them on the payroll, they feel the need for a gimmick.

One who has made a success of this is Dianne Oxberry who joined " North-West Tonight" principally as a weather presenter in 1994, after a stint in BBC radio and studying at the Met Office college.

She has since been employed to present a multitude of programmes and has proved herself quite capable.
 
As long as the Corbett remains, I don't care who goes. For now. :D

The current crop of BBC weathergirls are utterly unimpressive and none compare to Isobel Lang. She was the only one for me...

They could axe Carol Kirkwood though, and by 'axe' I mean fire her out of a cannon.
 
I'm not in favour of positive discrimination but can they replace some of the older weather women with newer ones on the bbc too ? Any sort of a change would be welcome. :o

The three blokes well 2 blokes and a knob will do alright in the background , maybe they can make some more accurate forecasts for a change !
 
The way people like Corbett, "big up their parts" I'm surprised you don't hear something like;
"There's likely to be a life threatening tornado sweeping up the Thames estuary in less than an hour!
