Yes.
Why do you keep adding an exclamation mark to the end of this programme name? AFAIK it's just "The Weather Show." And I don't see what your particular gripe is with it. I watched an edition last Christmas and it was very informative, giving lots of information on how the forecasts are prepared, what models are used, etc, and also answered lots of viewers questions. Perhaps you should watch it and you'll find out there's a lot more to weather than just "will one need an umbrella today?" If that's all you need perhaps online is the way to go for you, but just because you feel that way does not mean there isn't demand for detailed forecasts on the TV delivered by a weather professional. I can assure you there is. How the BBC would have coped last winter without one, I dread to think!
Yes, until tv forecasting evolved and viewers discovered a better way of it being done. I can't imagine there are many like you that would like to see a return to those days when the weather was more of an afterthought. Especially nowadays when the weather is increasingly making headlines. The professional insight provided by dedicated forecasters is extremely valuable to me and many viewers, and one of the reasons why I value the BBC so highly. Take it away and suddenly the BBC is on a par with or even behind the commercial sector in that respect.
False. Weather forecasting is unquestionably more accurate now than it was then. The models that shape the forecast we see on TV have advanced massively in that time. You can dispute that all you want, but I'm afraid it is fact.
Yes, and then you'll complain no doubt about the programmes that money is spent on. They can't win! News and weather as far as I'm concerned is the most important service the BBC provides and the last area that should be cut. If all you want is a generic and not up-to-date graphical forecast for your area, then it is true that there are other more basic options out there that might suit your neeRAB better, but please don't bemoan a service that is there to inform, is increasingly sidelined by the commercial sector and many people deeply appreciate.
