Pleasehelpme,

Welcome to the boards!

I have seen posts, similar to yours, coming from the UK...if you don't mind my asking, is that where you're from?

If you and your doctors have ruled out everything you can think of, you might consider the possibility of lyme disease and co-infections...this disease spreads via the blood stream and can affect multiple body systems like the stomach, intestines, bladder, bones, muscles, nerves, senses, etc.

People can have lyme for years and years (some people are thought to be born with it)before it rears it's ugly head...stress like exams or an accident or a death in the family can cause major outbreaks.

You have several symptoms that many people with lyme experience...the funny tastes, gastrointestinal problems, weight loss (altho some gain weight), cartilige/bone abnormalities (the bacteria of lyme can eat bone, cartilige, and muscle).

Special lyme literate medical doctors (LLMDs) are needed to diagnose and to treat lyme....we currently lack accurate tests to detect the disease so these specialists often diagnose base on a combo of symptoms.

There may be a LLMD in Wales, if I'm not mistaken. Lyme can kill so if you and your doctors have ruled every they can possibly rule out it may be wise to consult with a specialist asap.

Good look!

oki now im scared even more :(, i really have no idea what it is that is wrong with me, but i do believe it can and will kill me if this is not sorted soon :(.. i personally believe that somewere down the line as i child, one side of my ribs was pushd inwards slightly, and as i have grown up, the difference has pushd the internal organs to one side, making the valvues from stomach to eosophigus.. could this be the case? i am pushing the doctors for the surgeon endoscopy and am willing to go private if its not sorted as i do believe at the state i am in, i dont have long :( is this a good idea? even tho i cannot afford it.. and yes im from the UK, thank you everyone who has posted, its gives me more angles to look at it from, thank you

i am posting this as a desperate man, i have been ill for roughly a year now, and its becoming unbearable now :( it has ruined my life and confined me to my house. i was hoping somebody could help me understand or even diagnose what may be wrong with me here, as if this doesnt get sorted soon i do feel like it will kill me :'( here are the symptoms?

well for roughly about a year now, i have been feeling constantly sick, i havnt actualy vomitted, but that is because i do what ever i can to stop myself vomitting.. but this has been a constant feeling, it feels as though here is something rising up into my mouth, i dont exactly know if this is my stomach or some other problem but i have been in and out of the doctors and they seem to think its something to do with my stomach, but have never given me the reason or the treatments which work.. from as long as i can remember i have always had this sick feeling rising up, but about a year ago during my exams it started to flare up and has constantly gotten worse since then, but was a year ago.. i can sometimes taste funny tastes in my mouth, which i think is blood but when i check i cant see any on my tongue or from my teeth.. i have also lost the ability to know whether i am full or empty, and have to physically lift my shirt up to check whether my stomach looks bloated or flat, which can cause problems when out shopping and such.. up to recently i have been able to fight the sickness back down, but its getting harder and harder and i cant help feeling that im going to be sick constantly, and i have to carry a bucket around the house with me just incase.. i am 6ft 2inch, and i used to weigh about 11stone7.. but now i have lost so much weight wen i didnt want to, and i wiegh around 10stone6.. i dont know what the problem is and was hoping that someone could help as the doctors i have seen havnt been able to :(, my ribs feel different and one feels astho it pushes inwards as the other pushes outwards? and this can be seen at various times during the day, and i have noticed it is usuali when the sickness flares up.. i have been getting pains in my ribs and back, like shooting short pains.. the other day i was sat just watchin tele, and my nose randomly started bleeding and i am really scared as i do believe that the illness will kill me within afew months if not sorted :(, i have been really depressed because of the constant sickness and just dont know were to turn anymore :( im 18, and i have to spend all my time in the house as i canot go out anymore, this is ruining my relationship with the person i love :(, i have also had to leave college, and due to curriculum changes i cannot go back and finish my grades so i would have to start the few years afresh if this doesnt get sorted :( please can someone help, im losing out on the most important times of my life because of this :( im sorrry there is alot there, but i fought if i put asmuch as i can think off atm hoping that it would help get to the root of the problem

please

All that you say only confirms me in what I'd do in your place. The loss of weight, sitting inside at the computer, not eating right is good enough to explain a lot of troubles. Bad posture from sitting all day can add a lot too. You might even have a TMJ problem since it can cause nausea and what not!

You might be lacking Oxygen first of all! Pale skin, bad circulation, loss of weight. It can also be from too much toxicity in the body (stress, no fresh air, no exercising, no proper nutrients, and so on).

Don't try too hard to find out WHAT is exactly with you. If you will get better who cares why after all?!

I'd suggest that you start going out for a walk regularly! Then add more and more moving the body. You are young. Life is movement!
Whatever you like (yoga, swimming pool, stretching, running, biking, ... -- gym would be the last on my list for you, in some sense).
Research about cleansing and try it gradually.

You are not alone, chronic unexplained nausea isn't that uncommon, many people - many young people - have it. I think I've seen several posts here on HealthBoards about chronic idiopathic nausea, try the search feature. There's a long list of things that can cause it so getting to a diagnosis can take some time.

Do you know what your doctors have ruled out? What medications did or didn't seem to work for you? Have you had a endoscopy? Or other tests?

The simple ones I can think of are acid reflux, ulcer, gastritis and hernia. The complicated ones are a motility disorder like gastroparesis, gallbladder disorder - you can actually get reflux of gallbladder bile which is very weird and awful tasting - or Barrett’s Esophagus, a complication of severe acid reflux. There's also neurological disorders and inner ear dysfunction.

Sorry I sneak in: just saw this post though I am from another topic.
May I ask you: can you exercise? Did you do it before this sickness?
What is your "diet"?

What I'd personally do in your place is cleanse my body, juice, and then watch very carefully for eating natural plant-based foods. I strongly believe that once the body has the ability to rest and heal it will do its best to take care of more stuff that we can imagine possible. Even if it's a rib as you say, if the body can move (and does move as it should) it will try to push it to better places where it belongs.
When doctors don't know the answers, the nature is the only one to rely on. Hope this is helpful.

the doctors i have attended arnt very good, they just keep puttin me on the same medication even tho i have explained it doesnt work and is getting alot worse :(.. i have been on lanzaprozol for sometime which sometimes works, but after awhile stops working.. and thats all i have been put on.. i have been diagnosed with

caffine addiction - ruled out
depression - ruled out
stomach ulsers - ruled out, not through tests but through guesswork of the doctor

nothing they give seems to help.. i was suppose to have an endoscopy last week, but there was a problem with getting it into my stomach so i have to wait for a surgeon to do it, which is more time :( thus stopping me going bck to college for the second half of the year..

does the fact i cant physically burp mean anything? because most people say they burp and it feels better, but i have never been able to burp

well thats the thing, i wouldnt say i was big on exercise, i used to walk quite alot to and from school when i was younger, and i used to play basketball.. but i had to stop playing basketball, because of the illness and lack of coacking in the UK.. i sit around playin on the computer quite alot more, and since the illness started, i did have a laptop which i used alot, could that have triggerd any illnesses? i do abit of walkin too and from college when i feel well enough to leave the house, but other than that no i dont exercise alot.. asides from this, i have always been a normal wieght untill recently when i have started to drop the weight at a scary speed :( even wen eating foods which should put weight on

Without trying to scare you. Please have the doctors check for Esophageal Cancer. I recently went to the doctor for the same throat problems (but I've only had the problems for the last month). It turns out I had an acid burn in my throat. The doctor had mentioned that it could be cancer, but after a 2nd visit and some tests, it was ruled out. I was diagnosed with Acid Reflux... but my symptoms weren't as bad as yours.

As far as you not being able to burp, I have a friend that is perfectly healthy and has never been able to burp. Only pass gas. So, I don't know if I'd worry about that part of it (unless you were able to burp before).

I also wouldn't worry about the money right now. Your life is more important.

im going to go try get some sleep, as i havnt been able to sleep recently :(.. please if anyone could help, please do.. i can give more information if it helps diagnose it.. i have also noticed that i have very pale skin, and when i put the slightest bit of pressure it comes out in a red mark for 5mins or so.. i will post anything else i can think of, as i reali need this sorted soon :'(

you are probably eating junk foods and not getting proper vitamins and minerals. buy a multi vitamin. bad posture and sitting and no exercise.. probably no friends and social life..
so get in touch with people (take some classes-join groups help others), breathe fresh air, stop looking in at you and start looking up and out to others.. there are so many people worse off, so do some good for others. . Sleep is another potential problem. .. you probably dont sleep 8 hours and I doubt if you feel refreshed when you wake up.

Hello,
Have they checked you for Addisons Disease, you may say-What is Addisons disease, Your addrenial glands do not produce enough of a steriod to balance out your body and you get very sick. My son who was fifteen at the time, was having flu type symptoms, he was either vomiting or just plain sick to his stomach-no fever. After 6 days of this we went the doctor, he said his blood presure was low and he wants to run some tests, well there were allot of tests done but he discovered he had Addisons disease, sick stomach and vomiting are one of the main symtoms, until he got his new disease under control which took a good year, he was very weak, pale, tired and his stomach gave him allot of problems, he was on the home and hospital tutoring program for school for two years. Addison Disease is also a topic on the dicsussion board if you want to check it out.

Yes, this and the fact they couldn't get the tube down suggests a problem with your esophagus, maybe Esophagitis. The good news - the endoscopy the surgeon's going to do will probably give you an anwser to your problem.

Here's an info page on different types of esophageal disorders: http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/esophagusdisorders.html

It also lists esophageal cancer - keep in mind these types of cancer are extremely rare in people under 40.
