how important is caste/culture/religion when getting married or when considering your child's marriage

I think it depends on how educated they are. I say educated as opposed to having a college degree because I know lots of people with several college degrees and they minds are more closed than a steel trap.

The indian government has recognised how the caste system has kept India back as a society and has put laws in place to eradicate it. Of course some people (not all) in the higher castes fight against this because they will prefer to enjoy the benefits of keeping others down.

Old habits die hard so lots of people still observe the caste system. More enlightened people see it as just another form of slavery.

what should matter would be your childs happiniess. If you cant give your child happiniess the rest of their life its pointless being a good parent.

NOT important. It is the ultimate BRAMHIN bullsh** that is used to keep poor people down. It is 2009 for crying out loud.

What would you prefer - a bramhin that beat the living daylights out of your child, or a lower class person that treats him/her like royalty?
