This is England 86 (Spoilers)

Lol's dad had threatened her with the "nice and horrible" way to be raped. I think she knew it would be better for her, if she just lay there and let the horrible beast do what he had to do!!!

Some of the dialogue sent a chill down my spine
"You're not very wet are you? I'll soon sort that out!" Just awful for the poor lass!!

Excellent post. Absolutely spot on about Woody's change of character, I do think we are going to see more depth from him soon.

I was in my early 20's in 86, my frienRAB were Goths, Punks, Factory Boys,Hippies... I shan't go on, but all the tribes hung out together, (usually through pub behaviour, and dope smoking), I had a few rude boy/mod cross frienRAB and a skinhead friend or two (real ones, that weren't racist). Everyone was into music, really into music, eclectic, but chose a particular look. Myself I enjoyed, psychedelia, jazz, soul, Goth, Acid House, Factory, just loved music. That's how it was in Blackpool in the 80's the music scene was great. Gone totally off topic and all nostalgic. :o

Really enjoying the series and looking forward to tomorrow night, best thing that's been on telly for ages. And after This is England I get to watch Ideal :D

Yeah, I agree, I suspect she was crying for the filthy beast..

He was a hideously terrifying presence, and he was frightening to watch...

I imagine, the actor, Johnny Harris, won't be popping into Tesco in the next few days.. lol lol lol

all of the points mentioned in previous posts, regarding the tying up of the loose enRAB became irrelevant, to me personally, and I only wanted closure on the 'Mick the rapist' thread, of the story...

yeeeeeyyyy...

Have to say I've been loving this. It's gritty, can be funny and is hard hitting.

I don't think Ep 3 got the balance quite right though.

The rape scene left me in tears and given I was watching with my mother, who was raped when she was 16, it was distressing frankly but I do believe that was the aim.

I hope Mick gets what's coming to him and Combo does it redeeming himself slightly. Lol is still my fav because if her father has been doing these unspeakable things to her then she would go into her shell and become depressed and on the attack all the time. She doesn't know how to cope and she's fearing for her little sister.

ok I understand some people not 'getting this sequel' .Its seems they didn't get the film either, maybe due to age differences or something . I thought it was a great piece of work ,well above shameless etc

completely agree re the rape scene.... i couldnt believe we were watching it, gobsmacked, helpless at the sequence of events. its still playing on my mind, like id actually witnessed a real rape... disturbingly brilliant.

Thought it was a good scene setter, although I'm not sure about the fashions - Woody seems to be wearing a mod haircut which had died out by the late 70s and wouldn't appear again until the mid 90s (although Paul Weller might be an exception) - but on the other hand, the scooter boys are accurate. I was 5/6 in 1986 and remember them going down my road all the time, (almost running kiRAB like me on their bikes off the road!). There's a element of Siouxsie Sioux to the girls, which is accurate for the era.

The guy with Lol's mum seems to have a sinister edge, maybe a paedo or something?

Very good point that and I thought exactly the same thing, how the hell would you know where he lived.

All in all it was good stuff, excellent acting in places, just lacked something I thought, for 4 hours of footage, not really that much happened, I think it could of been better, I still really enjoyed it and one of the best things there has been on for ages but would of loved more combo and more griping scenes, the last 2 episodes were an improvement though.

this is england was good. I only watched this year about four months ago, never heard of it before then. Lucky, becuase I didn't have to wait four years for the sequel. only a few months.

Anyway I'll probably watch it soon.
