This is England 86 (Spoilers)

It's 60% Shameless, 20% The Street and 20% Soap Opera, it's also the worst thing Shane Meadows has ever done.

Turgoose and the guy playing Milky are two of the worst actors I've ever seen, when they were younger you didn't notice but you do now.

Also far too PC, Meadows has been heading this way for a while, away from his roots and his earlier more authentic films, he's become a right-on Southern luvvy.

Smell's a girl, I think you're thinking of Milky?

I thought last night's episode was excellent and very powerful drama.
My heart breaks for Woody as he very obviously loves Lol, he just seems to go about things the wrong way. Milky appears to love Lol also, and would no doubt treat her better but I don't see a good ending for him.

Harvey being beaten up by his dad as well :(

Well no, because some of the humour I DO find very funny and it is typical Meadows to mix humour and drama. It's just there is some clumsy stuff there too and not all of it gels. Woody was one of my favourites from the film, so I especially hope they don't ruin his character.

Lol is a fantastic character though.

Maybe he wasn't ever that carefree bloke, and was suppressing his 'sickness'.. if he was abusing Lol from an early age, the 'sickness' was always been beneath the surface... however, I've never seen the film, so you'll have a better insight to the characters traits.. :D

amazing writing, I thoroughly agree...

I actually had to cover my ears and close my eyes! It was an important part of the series, but it deffinately made in impact. I so wanted someone to walk in a kill the dirty bas***d!

Very very well acted!

Did you see the :D at the end of my post? That would indicate I'm having a nobble. Thanks for nitpicking at this jokey post of mine, and ignoring my serious longer posts about the characterisation. If it makes you feel a bit better and a little superior, good for you.

It's not a programme about you tho is it? I didn't wear those colours at the time either but you couldn't walk down a street without seeing them. It was like a Primark verison of Miami Vice in 1986.There was at least one 'chav' character in their gang, and the motorbike gang were all chavs and there wasn't a pastel colour among them. It was just a small gripe tho. I could watch anything with Vicky McLure in *sigh*

The rape scene was extremely disturbing but seemed very real. Poor Trev. She had no idea she had walked into a room with a complete sexual predator. The lass who plays her did a tremendous job!!

What was the significance in Harvey getting beaten up by his Dad last week? Was that revisited this time round (i missed the first 10 mins)?

Smell and Shaun frolicking in his mum's living room was hilarious!

y'know, thinking back.. after a few days to get over the actual events of the final episode.. lol

I think the final scenes, were maybe only a few days later, and maybe there hadn't been a court case atall, as someone already said, I suspect Combo, was being returned to jail, on remand, and awaiting trial..

Crazy bitch Mom, was sobbing at the loss of 'her man' staring at the area of floor, he'd died on.

Lol and Trev, comforting the wee Sis, at the loss and shock of events.

Woody and gang trying to introduce an element of normaility and unity, in the front room, of Lol and Woody's palace.

Trials take an eternity, to come to court, I suspect the previous poster was correct, in the timings, the finality of events hasn't yet happened.

just my personal take on things...

Great final episode and the realism was top notch. The only part which didn't seem real was when Lol had the hammer and turned her back on Mick - if I was the director, I'd have filmed that part again.

Johnny Harris (who played Mick) should win a BAFTA. Probably the scariest character I've ever seen in a TV drama.
I think I'd be a bit uneasy meeting the actor in real life but beard shaved off and smiling makes him look so much better link.

I love Combo's return, it was worth the wait IMO, We didn't have to know what had happened to him, we can use our own imaginations, but whatever it was, it changed him, his mothers impending death also made him want to return.

I thought that the scene with him and Lol was brilliant, he finally had the chance to redeem himself, to do something good for someone.

We did not have to see a showdown with Milky and Woody, sometimes best frienRAB do things that they are ashamed about, and it doesnt always have to come out into the open.

The scooter boys were an aside, a bit of comic relief and weren't really needed in the final episode as it was so heavy and gritty.

All in all I was left very satisfied, although I woudl love to see what happens next, please let their be another series of this, they don't make telly like this much anymore.

Lol told him what her dad used to do when she 16 just after thy had sex - Combo beat up Mick and Mick left. So he already knew what Mick was like
