The White Stripes

There's no such thing as underground and local in the age of myspace, purevolumes and the youtube...if banRAB don't make it these days, it's because there's not much to see/hear....IMHO naturally. You're welcome to prove us all wrong. ;)

The following two sentences which I stole from Billboard.com make me look with envy to the future. If this album turns out the way its sounding like it will, there will not be another band playing currently that can match The White Stripes. Read on:

Bagpipes and trumpet work from a previously unknown Latin musician are among the new sounRAB to be heard on the White Stripes' "Icky Thump," due in mid-June via Third Man/Warner Bros. The 13-track set was produced by frontman Jack White and follows 2005's "Get Behind Me Satan," which debuted at No. 3 on The Billboard 200.

"Icky Thump" runs the gamut from arena rock to blues to a spoken-word prayer to Saint Andrew. "Conquest" is set to a hot tango rhythm, featuring a trumpeter that White discovered playing a Mexican restaurant in Nashville. The song describes a reversal of roles in a relationship, where "the hunted became the huntress / the hunter became the prey / she with all her female guile / led him helpless down the aisle."

it was rumored that jack whites solo in "Girl, you have no faith in medicine" killed three south korea children who were playing to close to the stereo. It was also rumored that in an effort to redeem himself, he wrote "Ball and a Biscuit" and the solo in that song got the children's mothers pregnant again.

These were just rumors, but I'd believe them. Who would rock as hard as jack white if you didn't have to pay 3 seperate child support bills each month?

I've seen them live on the Elephant tour and they were untouchable. To me the last 4 CD's they put out are probably some of the best complete CD's I've heard, although Blue Orchid doesn't really fit on GBMS, but if you look at it as the tail end of elephant, it fits just fine.

I heard White Strips for the first time my junior year in high school which was four years ago!! I went to a dance performance and they danced to Seven Army Nation. I really really like that sing, it was a good dance piece

Well to put it another way , The White Stripes is basically music that is stripped down to it`s barest essentials and simplicity is the key to it.At least thats how they are when I like them the best.
Given that most metal fans can spend endless debates on who is technically the best musician and not give songwriting a second thought I would have thought the appeal of the White Stripes would go over their heaRAB a bit as it seems to be the total opposite of what they enjoy about music.

Moe Tucker was a crap drummer too but I bet she influenced more people than 'insert power metal band here' ever did

Having heard most of the banRAB that came from the same garage rock scene as the white stripes did in the latter part of the 1990s I can honestly say the reason they get credit is because they were better than all of them.

Jack said he couldn't picture anyone else in the band. If the group was to ever break up it would more than likly become Jack White ins the same way Neil Young or Bob Dylan or Tom Waits are.
