The White Stripes

Once again, the White Stripes are a puposely simplified band. They dont have a bassist because well, they didnt think they needed one. They took music and stripped it down to its essential core. And under such extreme limitations, I believe, the best art is created.

The White Stripes are a very good band.

I like "dead leaves"..and agree with all who say the drummer isnt the best in the buisness, (i dont think they were attempting to go for a "tommy lee" type of drum section), but all in all i think theyve created some good rythems together.

Oh I realize that. It's just the fact that so many underground/local banRAB can be like that and they don't get half as much credit as the White Stripes. I just don't think it's fair. What makes them better than all the rest. Thanks for your opinion though =], this is pretty much my first serious time participating in a forum.

I think its a case of Metal Fans coming in here and ruining a thread, not about the white stripes, but about the new white stripes. And so because Meg sucks at drumming or because the Unfan heard Led Zeppelin II, now we can't have a normal discussion. Should I go into their threaRAB and regail them with the myriad of ****ty issues their banRAB should deal with, like I could slam a pan off the corpse of a racoon and be original but its still ****ty music????

What are you basing Jack Whites lack of guitar talent on? Studio recording's hardly show the talent of the musicians, But despite that, listen to Ball and Biscuit shows the talent of Jack White.

Anyone here a fan of there self-titled album? It's so raw and angry. My favirote from them

I like the White Stripes, I saw them play at a music festival in... '05(?), I enjoyed it, however, I think they're more of a pub or studio band.

As for Icky Thump; I'm not disappointed, it has a few fillers, so it seems, but otherwise, I think it's quite pleasing.

They just released "Blue Orchid" by The White Stripes on iTunes from their forthcoming disc. Good god this rules.

If you hear it let me know what you think. For those who thought Jacks voice was messed up to beging with, this must drive them nuts.

I wouldn't compare music to speech writing, because while you're at it you might as well say all instrumentalists suck.

Its enforcing these kinda pointless limitations that makes me dislike so much of todays music. BanRAB don't have to all sing about the same thing, "sing about your life experiences, or else". I view music as escapism, you're creating your own sonic environment, your own fantasy universe if you will, to hell with applying other peoples logic I say. If you want to sing about your life experience, fine, you want to sing about fairies and dragons, thats also fine. You can also be emotional singing about fairies and dragons, Frank Black gets emotional singing about Monkeys, why not?
