The Village

saw the village tonight and like every one else was quite disapointed.

the trailers made it look better than it was.

guessed the twist half way through

i think the reason they were in the village was because the elders all had a rough time in *real life*, the photo of them all outside the councelling centre. The guy was a billionaire so i guess he thought *heck why not*. Im assuming everyone else in the village was then born from the elders..or moved there when they were too young to remember. I dont think the medicine guy knew she would be there he was probably just patrolling the place, he is probably not told what is in there however the main guy reading the newspaper probably knows whats in there (interestingly too as the person playing him was Shalyman(sp) himself!

When did she see her hand change colour? If you mean the bit when she got blood on her hand its probably cos she just felt it. But there are a few errors in the film where she grabs for her cane etc even though she wouldnt know where it is.

I'm afraid not, it works for me when I type the tag myself! Just type [ spoiler ]whatever[ /spoiler ] but without the spaces. That should work! I don't think I get the thing where the page doesn't fully load either... have you tried refreshing it?

One thing that didn't make sense to me was..

Whenever the creatures were moving about, there were always pounding sounRAB which gave the impression they were really huge.. Err, if it was just a bloke in a suit all the time, then what were the noises about?

Re: this being a study of people I think you're right. I was thinking about it last night and for anyone who has seen Farenhite 9/11 you will get where I'm coming from. When you think how much the American people are being held in a state of fear by the government of the US with the contstant terror alerts and how the reactions of the people are guaranteed, think of this in relation to the Village and the twist in it. ;)

Was the noise not something to do with the room you must not enter... They probably rigged up some speakers or something around the forest for effect :)
A bit weak was how the lack of human intervention was just explained away by a "government payoff" - surely stray planes etc... must have flown overhead, even if by accident.
Also, would the girl not have heard the bloke drive off in his truck? She will not have heard an engine before this, so surely she would ask questions? Maybe I am missing something

Went to see the Village yesterday, and was very pleased. i think it is somehting you can watch again and again and pick more stuff up from it. One bit that did annoy me though:
Lucius acts very strangely in the whole film and you just wonder whether he knows something about the whole conspiracy. Maybe the directors trying to lead you off the scent.

I actually realised the twist when:
when the girls father speaks to the elders and tells them what she is going to do and they all complain that their way of life will be lost.

I thought it was incredibly clever though especially:
when you see the truck on the outside of the fence and it says walker on it, got that as soon as I saw it!

How can you find out earlier on about this twist in the story? I didnt realise it till the moment either. I was very shocked.

I agree with some people though. The ending was a bit annoying.

This film was poor. Ever so slow going. Not worthy of a recommendation I have to say. It didnt live up to expectations and the trailers misrepresented the whole film. Overall thumbs down...

This film had me scared. My boyfriend almost had to hold me down in the seat so I wouldn't jump (did this at the start of Dawn of the Dead and his mates still haven't stopped laughing).
My friend had told me there was a twist in it, but:
I thought it was that the film was set in modern times. Then when Ivy's dad showed her the costume in the shed place, I was thinking that that was the twist. But then , when there was the monster (Noah)out in the wooRAB, I got scared and confused, thinking maybe the twist is that there is no monsters but then there is.
Anyway, I've totally confused myself with that (sorry guys!!). Am such a dimwit though. Totally did not spot that:
The name on the ranger van was Walker, and the family in it is called Walker. Am I right in thinking that Ivy's dad is paying off govenment officials to keep quiet about the place?

Wow, you must be the most timid person on earth to be scared by this film ;)

Noah isn't a monster, he's just a loony!
There aren't any monsters in the wooRAB, that was just the elders way of scaring the rest of the townsfolk so that they would never leave.
Yes, Walker owned the wildlife reserve that the Village was in, and they employed the rangers to prevent anyone entering.

I spotted the minor twist didn't guess the main one. It was an ok movie, had no idea what it was meant to be about when I went to see it so couldn't have been disappointed.

I've another question..

You know when the main female character was waiting at the door for Lucius after the bell had been rung, andher sister was telling her not to let "them" in.. Well when Lucius grabbed her hand, you could see the creature approaching from the other side.. What was that about? Why would the elder in the costume want to come into the house of a villager anyway? Surely they wouldn't want to get too close in case the hoax was revealed.. The more I think about this the movie the more confused I become.. Lol..

I saw it yesterday and i thought it was great...i worked out the two twists in the first 5 minutes but that didnt stop my enjoyment of it...i think it was a film all about the characters and i thought the characters were great...i liked the lucius character as i could relate to him and the ivy character was very endearing...

There were a lot of things like this that you had to figure out / assume yourself as they weren't pointed out.

Different note now, if I want to cover something in grey to hide a spoiler how do I do it I know how to uncover it need to know how to cover it.

Type ["spoiler"] (take out the speech marks) and then write what you want to put, then to finish the spoiler do [/"spoiler"] (again take out the speech marks).
