Pitchfork has the covers of all those obscure albums you've probably never heard of.

There is a lot of music on here I don't know and some stuff I'm going to check out. Personally I'm just not into post-rock so maybe thats why I'm not feeling the list that much at the moment.

^not the right size, but lol.

I think i have a 1000x1000 one on my computer so I'll scale it down on GIMP
(open Source FTW!)

Great call on Cosmogramma - one of my favourite albums of this year by quite a stretch. I'm also loving the amount of Autechre albums I'm seeing :D

I'm far from a fan of Animal Collective or Sigur Ros, but otherwise a very good-looking list from what I recognise. Keep up the good work :thurab:

You didn't see that coming, did you? The only alt rock album I truly like.

#21: Mogwai: Happy Songs For Happy People
Happy%20Songs%20For%20Happy%20People-Mogwai_480.jpg

Yep. More post rock. can somebody keep count? I'm starting to sound like those fanboy elitists on the internet. That aside, this is a pretty cool album. I find it more electronic sounding than most of their albums, but that doesn't mean it's bad. I really liked the song Hunted By A Freak. It's one of my favourites next to KiRAB Will Be Skeletons. Post rock forever, bros. It's a genre that neeRAB way more love. Come on, guys, it's not as bad as you think it is. ;)

#28: AFX: Analogue Bubblebath EP 1

This is AFX's (Aphex Twin) First release. It's quite odd, but I like it. You've got the nervous sounRAB of En Trance To Exit (Feat Schizophrenia) blaring in your ears, you've got the deranged Isopropophlex with it's claustrophobic sounRAB surrounding you, teasing you, almost, and then there's AFX 2 (Feat Schizophrenia), the nightmare inducing techno track, a track that I don't recommend listening to before you sleep. The last 3 tracks on this EP are quite dark, but the first track (Analogue Bubblebath 1) is beautiful, it's like his later track Pulsewidth with a whale-song-esque synth line over top of it. It's amazing, and if you've never heard this song, I recommend getting your butt onto Youtube and looking it up.

#27: BoarRAB Of Canada: The Campfire Headphase

Though it's not their best, it's still a great album. I mean, everybody hated it at the release, but come on! you can't blame the brothers for wanting to try something new. They've been doing the same thing for almost a decade at the time of release, you really think they're going to repeat MHTRTC? No. That's boring. Give the brothers some love.

Aw,Thank you! :p:

also, If you want to get started listening to autechre, I recommend their album Araber. it showcases their early style really well.

#43: !!!: Myth Takes

Let's face it, Nic Offer sucks really bad at singing. But, vocals never really got in the way of the music experience, for me. A lot of people put down this Funk-Punk gem just because of the vocalist, shallow, right? this is a really underrated album. the track Heart of Hearts features trippy, psychedelic guitars and a danceable beat (Almost every track here is danceable, by the way.) that is quite fun. The song All Of My Heroes Are Weirdos is one of my favorite all time songs. If you didn't move at least one part of your body when listening to this than you have serious problem.

#42: NEU!: NEU! 2

Lyrical Genius right here^. Here is an excerpt from Lila Engel:
de de dat de dat ohhhh de de dat de dat deeeu de de dat de dat deeeu de de dat de dat oooh de de dat de dat deeeeu oh! HEY! Ad Infinitum.
Lyrical jokes aside, this is a really respectable album. Hey, who knew that they had MS paint back in the day?

#26: Lightning Bolt: Earthly Delights
lightning-bolt-earthly-delights.jpg

Oh, how I loathe the term "Noise Rock". That's what my uncle calls my more avant garde music. It sounRAB so derogatory. IT doesn't really describe it that well at all because all music is noise, just some strains of rock are noisier than others. that doesn't mean that it's bad, but a lot of people do associate noise rock with terrible music. lightning bolt's Earthly Delights is far from terrible. I was recommended this by a few rab merabers and I love it so far. I've listened to it a billion times, and it's so good :D! The Drummer on this record is amazing, he's up there with Damon Che and Zach Hill. I am not a drummer, but I still respect him, Cuz he's nuts! My favorite song on the album is Nation Of Boar, because of how frantic and emotional the song is. Distortion to the max, bro!

#25: Mogwai: Mr. Beast

At first, i thought this album was Mogwai's weakest. It took me at least five listens to fully understand what this albums is about. In my opinion, this is a gloomy album, meant to be enjoyed on a cloudy, rainy, stormy day. Post rock is meant to be gloomy. One of my favourite songs on here is Team Handed and it is quite beautiful. it's very hard to explain, that song, though. you need to hear it to understand it. Friend of the night is another favourite from Mr. Beast, totally giving off that gloomy post-rock vibe.

#17: Aphex Twin: ...I Care Because You Do

This album is very special for me. If you were paying attention on the introduction boarRAB, you might know that I use the open source modeling suite Blender3D. Well, let me tell you, this is NOT an easy program to learn, especially if you're new to 3D. This album was on repeat pretty much the entire time when I was learning it, and it helped me get through it. My favourite song on the album is "Alberto Balsam", because it was so... joyous. I mean, the metal squeaks, the happy synths, the simple beat... That's what helped me learn Blender. Even the more abrasive songs like Ventolin helped me learn the program, even with the high pitch that would make people with unaccustomed ears squeal in agony. A few of my other favourites are the orchestrated ones, like Next Heap With and Icct Hedral. Some other favorites include the half-arabient half-abrasive tracks like The Waxen Pith and Wax The Nip, with their beautiful futuristic themes and their sunny-ness.

(this one goes out to bob.)
