I've never read the book but I saw the trailer when I went and seen My Sister's Keeper and this movie definatly looks good. Another tear jerker for sure!

I can't stop watching the clips/interviews. And have you guys checked out the latest stills too? They're amazing! :sigh:

The book was definitely waaaaaay better than the movie! I agree with you, Anji, the movie was pretty fast-paced for me -- in comparison to the book, I suppose. I was like, "Whoa, whoa, they're at that stage already?"

I liked the movie. They cut out a lot from the book, but they got the 'basic idea' down. The relationship felt a bit more 'superficial' though than in the book. It was a lot more complex in the book. Even though I don't like the Gomez/Clare situation in the book, I wished they could've shown it in the movie. It would've added tension to the movie. For the most part, the movie was a whole lot happier. I mean, they got the main heartwrenching parts down -- miscarriages, Alba, Henry's impending death -- but it's still not as much angst as in the book. They kinda made the story into a traditional romance almost, when it's not really supposed to be. I understand that it's a hard book to adapt, so yeah. It could've been a whole lot worse.

Definitely read the book! The movie barely gave the full scope of Henry/Clare. In the movie, it felt like, what, 20%-25% to me.

You really get a feel for just how epic their love story is in the book. It's definitely worth reading, just to experience it in full.

Lifehouse is my favorite band ever, so having them in the trailer was just amazing for me lol. It definitely fit perfectly with the trailer

That's good!! I tried to re-read it in preparation for the movie, but I got a bit distracted by other books. I loved the book, but it wasn't the easiest book for me to zip through. I hope to at least skim through some parts before seeing the movie.

It felt kinda slow. Not much seemed to be happening but it was very choppy and changed times quickly so it felt fast in that respect. Did that make sense?

I agree about the no character development! I thought Rachel was good but Eric... *shrug* He didn't come across as a fantastic actor. Kinda wooden really.

When I'm done with my current book, I'm gonna read this next. I just hope it's better than the film - which I've heard it is.

The book is, without a doubt, better. But I thought they did good with what they put onscreen. I absolutely loved Eric Bana as Henry. He was perfection to me. I cried mainly because of the book and knowing what kind of emotions they were both feeling. I felt that Rachel and Eric tried to portray that as much as they could. All in all, I really loved it. And will definitely put it in when I need a good cry.

That song fits SO perfectly, it was like the ideal tone and the lyrics... :sigh:

That's a wonderful idea! :yay: You're going to have a magical weekend.

I just finished reading the book. It is brilliant. What I realize from this book is that women are really good at waiting. It's like it's embedded in their (our) nature to persevere, to be patient, to wait - the quiet strength.

I finished re-reading the book again recently, so it's all fresh in my mind again. :)

I would say, I hope the movie lives up to the book, but I actually didn't really love the book...just something about how it was written. I feel it could've been way more romantic than clinical, which is what it seemed like during many parts of the book. What I did love, though, was the Henry/Clare romance. And the trailer looks really good, so I'm definitely looking forward to that.

I agree. I think they should have devoted more time to the meadow. I feel like in the film, you don't see them fall in love. You're expected to believe that she falls in love with him in the meadow, and he falls in love with her between their first night together and when he goes to his dad for the rings.

Even that little montage after they get married when Henry keeps traveling could have included scenes from the meadow. I get that they were showing Henry in crappy situations to maky you sympathize, but I really feel like the film could have been better with more meadow scenes.

Great trailer, I haven't read the book, but I'm looking forward to seeing the film..

I've watched the trailer numerous times I can't get over it. I LOVE LOVE LOVE the use of Lifehouse's Broken. I cannot wait!

I decided that after work today, I'm going to buy the book and read it during weekends :sigh:

Thanks so much for the links! :slinkie: All the updates and promos coming out are making me so anxious! August 13 can't get here soon enough!

I didn't see Lucky You but I agree about The Other Boleyn Girl not being a great movie for him.
