The Time Traveler's Wife *14th August*

The book if fantastic.

I worry that the film is going to be too chick-flicky. I'm aware the book is sometimes touted as "chick-lit", but in actual fact is far more than that, it's a deep and intriguing exploration of humanity and love.

I hope my fears are unfounded ... but the trailer doesn't inspire much confidence in me.

I've read the book and tend to agree with Revenga. I'm looking forward to see how they're going to do it too - on the books forum, some found it hard to keep track just reading the book.

I really reccommend everyone reaRAB the book before the film comes and ruins it all! Thats what happens with tonnes of books which make it to the big screen
So worried that half of the important stuff will be missed out and replaced with some slushy love stuff to make it the ultimate chick flick.
Looking forward to a good weep though at the cinema! :p

Just finished the book and even though its a bit confusing at times with the whole dates/ages, its definately one of the best books i have read in a long time, i just hope that the big screen can do it justice.

Yes someone does die, not gonna say who though as i don't want to ruin it for you.

Agree with above. I hate chick lit and chick flicks and i wouldn't put the book into that category but saw the trailer the other day and it looks awful. Really cheesy and fake. The book is very good.

Highly recommend reading the book - I read it a couple of years ago and it's wonderful.

I saw the trailer at the cinema last week, and I'm curious to see what it's like. I would have thought it would have been really hard to translate it onto screen. I Rachel McAdams, but not so sure about Eric Bana!

I thought it was a fascinating book based on a terrific idea..involuntary time travel. I certainly wouldn't call it "chic lit"..it made you think about life differently. Yes, there is a central love story..but it's about much more than that.
Like others, I feel it will be ruined bringing it to the screen..but hope I'm wrong.

Yes, but not soon enough and not enough of them either! I hated the book with a passion I have to admit. Won't be rushing to the local Googleplex to watch the film either.

Not sure - but its being trailed as a movie where Eric Bana gets naked (as all time travellers must do - remember Arnie in Terminator) so expect a fairly big audience.:D

I just got back. I think I liked it. I haven't read the book though. I thought the movie was good but a little slow and a bit confusing.

Saw it yesterday. Not my usual choice of film and I wasn't sure what to expect. I was very pleasantly surprised!

It could be a little confusing at first as you weren't sure if it was present day or future Henry but once the film gets going it's very entertaining. There was a lot of sniffling going on in the cinema by the end.

Surprising! 9/10
