didn't really think that much of it. i haven't read the book, but the film just didn't seem to go anywhere for a long time.
we knew he travelled through time, but the first half was just made up of scenes that seemed pretty predictable, but without any real sense of narrative. and characters he met weren't fleshed out at all, as i'd imagine they would have better been in the book.
it was only in the last half / third of the film when
that it started to have any narrative direction.
