Top Gear is about three middle aged men playing around in expensive cars. Fifth Gear seems more about the cars than the presenters.

For some reason they resurrected Fifth Gear from the dead last year.

Fifth Gear is Top Gear circa 1992.

Some of the dafter TG antics are obviously not to everybody's taste but there was good reason as to why it was axed the first time round.

William Woollard actually proved to be quite popular during his time on Top Gear in the 1980s. The format was probably a little staid for modern tastes though.

But nobody wants to watch plain old cars. I skip the first 10 minutes of Top Gear to skip the driving part.

Despte being into cars and a pertol head I would like a show that could find some middle ground between the two.

Something that has entertainment and reviews of vastly expensive cars, but also a section or two devoted to everyday cars with items such as - how much shopping can I fit in the boot, which car is the easiest to jack up if a tyre needs changing, which car is best in snow etc...

It's not "The Stig" who would be on the show, just Ben Collins driving as himself. "The Stig" is a Top Gear trademark and can't be used by other shows.

I imagine Top Gear will now axe The Stig altogether and not get a replacement.

Ben Collins is just the guy who played the Stig for a while, he's not an integral part of TG at all. If TG does anything, it will probably be they kill or retire the white Stig character and introduce a red / blue / rainbow Stig.
