The Sound Of Music

...did the Von Trapp butler inform on them?? I just noticed this time round that he was looking out of the window just as they got caught, and Maria had just finished saying how they hadn't told him or the other woman

Still love this film. I forget how much it makes me laugh! "Were you this much trouble at the Abbey?" :D

I don't hate the Baroness though. She's not evil, just in love with a man who doesn't love her, poor woman.

haha - no there isnt a lot of war talk in it until the final few scenes. I watched it countless times as a kid - to the end! - but I don't think i ever really knew what was happening at the end-until i was 20 ; ). Now my niece and nephew love the film. Her more than him. I shall have to ask her what she thinks is happening and what they are escaping from.

As a kid I had all my fave bits - the tree climbing, puppet show, goodnight song, and in particular the frog at dinner! Its great watching it now - its so cheesy but I really feel like I'm being taken back to my childhood(!?). My fave moment does change but my least fave bit has always remained the same over the years - The "I have confidence song"...usually enRAB up being fast forwarded. And to this day my ambition in life is to live in a house that has a staircase like that.

i love the sound of music
in fact my school did the musical for the annual production and it was absolutely fantastic! the whole hall was singing along with the fantastic singers of year 11, 12 and 13

Yes, he is a Nazi supporter. You will notice that early on in the film when Rolf comes to deliver the telegram, he steps outside, closing the door and looking very shifty, and asks if there have been any developments. The film lays the groundwork very early on.

which one? the one at the party?

good night, farewell?

"adieu, adieu to yeu and yeu and yeuuuuu!!!"

or the puppet show? high on hill with a lonely goat herd? yodelayheyodelayheyodelayhehoooooooo!!!!

:D :D :D

I can remember my mum and dad trying to explain about the war while we were watching it - except they really didn't know a lot, so weren't particularly helpful!! They certainly didn't know about the Anschluss etc.

Love this film its a classic makes me smile whenever its on.. other day I found myself singing aka yodelling in the kitchen along with the songs.. silly eh..psst I love it so much even bought it..

If you think your a fan try some of these.. sound of music quizzes

It's a classic. I don't know why people snub this film. It really is a good story if you can just get around the singing. I like the songs but my hubby hates musicals.

isnt it the "sun has gone to bed...."?!

There's a sad sort of clanging from the clock in the hall
And the bells in the steeple too.
And up in the nursery an ubsurd little bird
Is popping out to say cook-coo cook-coo, cook-coo....!

Love that film and seen it so many times. made my boyfriend watch it once - i couldn't believe that he'd never seen it! anyway, he wasn't too impressed. kept fidgeting and even wanted to do ironing half way through! hmm...wonder if that's why he's my ex....

My favouritest song is "Edelweiss" sniff
