"The Simpsons Movie" Talkback (Spoilers)

I saw the Simpsons Movie today, I think it lived up to the hype. Just a really great movie overall. A bit risque, a little offensive, but hysterical and sometimes, touching. I think even the casual Simpsons fan would enjoy this movie. I can't say I watch The Simpsons religiously (I've watched a good 150 or 200 episodes) but I found the movie to be a hell of a good time. I wouldn't mind seeing it again.
 
Well, we all knew they'd have a word they couldn't say on network television, but who'd have thought it would be MARGE to say it?

Unlike the show, who recently suffered from many hit-and-miss jokes. I laughed nonstop through the whole movie. Except when Marge left Homer, it seems like she really meant it that time.
And I don't know about ya'll, but i think an hour and a half is pretty good length.
The only problem I felt was wrong with this movie is that the climax wasn't awesome enough but was still pretty neat.

Please people, even if you don't like the Simspons, it's still a fun comedy.
And remember, if you don't see this movie, that means you WANT them to keep making CG animated movies with talking animals.

I give this movie an A.
 
i suppose you're right. i'm not saying that kids shouldn't be allowed to see the movie, i just think that the pg-13 rating was a little cheapened. it's just that i've seen tv episodes that felt more mature, and would've been appropriate to use that rating.

i think the movie could've flied well with a pg rating, but they decided to add two or three things just so they can give the movie a pg-13 rating, so it wouldn't be passed off as a "kiddie movie" by the older crowd. that way they can maximize their profits (much like how they [fox] watered down live free or die hard enough to get a pg-13 rating for perhaps the same reason).



yeah, i read somewhere that groening said that there was about one-to-two movies worth of cutted material, which makes a dvd purchase that much more inevitable.
 
Just got back from the theater and it was worth the 18 year wait. I never laughed so much at an animated movie in my life. They handled the bart nude scene very well. The intire theater I was at busted out laughing. I just wonder what happened to Spider-Pig.

This gets 4.5 D'ohs out of 5.
 
I just got back from the movie and man was it an awesome movie. Bart was so in character and yet it showed a new side to him at the same time. I cried for him becuase I know what its like, to want a dad that can be a dad. The plot with Homer/Bart/Ned triangle started great and ended great, I hope they continue this on into the show, than we could see more Homer getting jealous of Bart spending time with Ned. The Lisa subplot I agree, it didn't really need to be there, but oh well. Marge was intresting in this movie, been along time since I was glad Homer and Marge got back together, the ending was sweet. Maggie was funny in this movie too....All the side characters were great as well. But they should have added Sideshow Bob in it, he's one of my favorite characters. If there is a sequal they had better make him the center plot with Bart. Maybe they could bring back his brother and try to get revenge on both, that would be an intresting plotline for a movie :D

Bart hates his Dad -
The Family makes a trip.....


I always tought a movie would make something Trascendental to the characters. But Waiting all this years just for this?

That's actually a plot for next season with a Frasier reunion of Kelsey Grammar and David Hyde Pierce reprising their roles.

I was pleasantly surprised with this movie and give it a solid 9/10. My highest rating since Season 9.

The first half hour was definately the best, including Green Day doing Titanic. But then thinking back, there were still great moments after that in the second half. I was a little pissed that there was more Homer/Marge fighting, but I think it was essential to this plot.

Was it me or did Julie Kavner's voice seem a little off in the Marge videotape? I can't wait for the DVD to come out so that way I can see all the deleted scenes. It needed more from the minor characters like Apu, Skinner, Krusty, etc...

Also my other complaint is President Schwarzenegger and not President Wolfcastle.
 
Well, I saw it just a while ago today, and I loved it. I haven't been watching the show regularly, well at least not as much as I did, but I really enjoyed this movie. It was a hillarious movie pretty much the entire time. My favorite scenes had to be when the Simpsons are watching the Itchy and Scatchy movie in a movie theatre, and Homer says "why watch something in the movies you can watch for free at home?" and he points towards the direction of the actual movie audience, Spider-Pig, Grandpa's freakout at church, Preisdent Swartzeneggar, the angry mob scene, the entire thing with the Simpsons moving to Alaska, and when Homer and Bart save Springfield as father and son. I don't think I have ever seen Homer act this stupid so much during the entire movie. It turned out better than I thought it would. I think I'd definitely see it again.
 
I'm not loving it as much as everyone else here. I mean, yes, it was the best episode in a long time, but that's not really saying much. It just seems like it's too late to add to the series now. Basically 70% of the humor in it has either been done before and better, and the animation was a little shaky. And I was hoping for Moe to die, not someone as funny as Dr. Nick. And I'd of liked to see more of "Bart Flanders", but that one's just me.

Oh well. At least Martin's revenge scene was expectionally funny, and it was still a good adventure throught.

Overall, yea, a ***1/2 sounds about right.

The Bart scene caught me by surprise, I thought it would of left. Don't remember Homer flipping the bird, though.
 
Hands down, greatest movie so far this year. It was hillarious, and the plot was pretty funny, it ended pretty quickly though. I hope that Maggie was right in the end (for those who watched through the credits) when she said "Sequel?"
 
There was a scene from the commercials where Patty and Selma are at the DMV and pretty much the whole town arrives and Patty or Selma (forget which) says "Next..." and they all struggle to reach the counter. I don't remember seeing that in the final film.

Oh yah I heard about that but I was thinking this way for a movie they could add so much more. But I'm glad Bobs brother will be back, I hope its for revenge on bob and Bart or maybe both of them team up agianst him :D

I saw the movie earlier today,and I loved it.....I'm no longer a regular viewer of the series(it's not that I don't like it anymore,it's just that I'm not usually home when it's on,and don't feel like taping it...),but enjoy watching episodes when I can....

My favorite things were....

The opening,where Homer calls everyone suckers for paying to see the movie version of a free TV show....

Green Day's appearance....and the reference to "Titanic" in their death..

Bart bonding with Flanders (who was actually the "nice Christian guy" rather than the "super-religious creep" of later seasons)....

scenes with Homer and the pig....While they played the "Spider-Pig" scene in the trailers,I still found it funny...

Homer flipping off the whole town before going down the sinkhole

Homer not realizing that Alaska's part of the United States

Marge's videotaped message to Homer....great acting in this scene....you can tell Marge is close to breaking down....

Marge being the one swearing (unexpected,but funny)...

Homer and Marge's scene at the end(thought it was sweet)...

Mr. Burns and Smithers scene over the end credits(shame they weren'tin the movie more)....
