A new episode airs tonight at 8 PM Eastern. Here is the synopsis:

Is the laziness and just plain apathy of the staff so extreme that they have no problem parodying the same titles this frequently? That's ridiculous.

??? "Million Dollar Abie" was from season 17. You're thinking of "Thursdays With Abie". But I do agree that they shouldn't go back to the same mine twice when it comes to title parodies.

This episode started off cute with Homer and Marge having a good time (and the episode had a good vibe) but after the lottery line jokes (how long can they stretchhhhhhh that out?), this went downhill awfully fast.

The terrible sounding Barney decides to come up with a hacknied idea of Homer "just happening" to find things for the family? Homer tossing Bart around like a midget?

Animation flatter than day-old soda? It became a bit less nausiating when Bart started blackmailing Homer, but still it had the "lets throw together an ending that sort-of makes sense". I didn't think an episode as awful as "Thursdays with Abie" could air a week later, but wow...

Oh, and 'cute sentimental endings' only mean something when the episode it bookends is actually worth watching.

1/5: 3rd worst behind "Abie" and "Alligator."

DYK: "Neanderthal Man!", as said by Nancy Cartwright in a recording session, was on the Spurlock Special.

I watched this episodes and yes, Barney did sound terrible. As did Apu. It's just obvious that the voice cast is treating this show as if all the characters are simply doing shtick, pandering to the fanbase who sees classic characters appear and squeals "Oh, it's so-and-so and he's going to say something! Squeee!".

Given the plot summary, I was fearfully expecting it to be yet another Homer/Marriage marriage threat. The fact that it's avoided until the very end was a welcoming surprise. For that matter, I think the ending is just plain sweet when Marge answered Homer's forgiveness with the song they sang in the beginning - it's an overall nice book end (the background during was also pleasant to look at). I'll even give Homer brownie points for using the million to spent it on his family despite his selfish motivations.

Unfortunately the subplot is too short and falls apart with a downer conclusion. Adding to The Simpsons inconsistence when it comes to real life products, the "Funtendo Zii" looks like a Wii and even has sound effects from the Wii. Does a name change at this point seem really necessary even if it was meant to cover up potential copyright infringements?

To me, it was not the best episode in the world. I liked Bart blackmailing Homer, he deserved it. This did not make me like Homer much here, but that's me. He had his funny moments sure but yah. Over all I give it a 2/3

This was a great episode. The Zii was a good sub-plot but it could have ended better. Homer's plot was great as well it didn't feel tacked on or anything. Not going to even start a flame war on how everyone's nitpicking at little pieces of the episode and not looking at it as a whole.
