A new episode aired tonight at 8:45 PM Eastern. Here is the synopsis:

Normally, I'm the first one to defend new episodes of The Simpsons, but honestly, that wasn't funny. I think I might have chuckled once. It's not even like the jokes weren't funny, it's more like there weren't any jokes. I mean, it really seemed like there were long stretches of time where they didn't even try to go for a joke.

The random dancing really felt like they were saying "we wrote ourselves in a corner and don't know how to end this episode".

I think it was at least better than last week's episode. I'm starting to think episodes that don't squarely focus on Homer is a good thing.
Though the next ep could prove me wrong.

I guess I was the only who like it. I love the montage about how Homer always get hurt. Althought for some reason they didn't show the footage on widescreen except for one scene. There were two things that caught me by suprised. One was the helicopter being actually a bus. For a moment I thought the episode was going to be one of the "Lisa is jealouse of Bart" episode but the twist with the helicopter/bus to Capital City took me by surprised. The second one will be Marge making out with Lindsey Naegle in Homer fantasy. That was really random and unexpected. The dancing sequence at the end made me chuckle.

Anyway it was good episode.

I know the animation has been improved since the move to HD, but the animation of Ralph doing his little dance and Superintendent Chalmers doing his during the Footloose montage were very well done.

I actually thought that was pathetic. It was like Homer became a 17 year old school-boy fantasizing about his girlfriend having lesbian relations with another girl.

This is not something a 38 year old man should think about his wife.

If "lesbian make-out scenes" is the kind of "cheap gag" the writers have been reduced to, it shows how sad this show has become.

I actually quite enjoyed this episode. I don't know if I'll need to watch it again, but it was a pretty solid Springfield Elementary plot. I enjoyed the animation of the "acting stupid" parts, and the dance ending wasn't really a cop-out because it came after the plot was basically resolved.

What are you, his dad? Homer shouldn't be getting drunk on a regular basis or choking his son either, but that's who he is.

I actually liked this episode quite a bit believe it or not.

The only thing I didn't like was the bit with Homer and Mr. Burns. Those types of blood/gore jokes really need to stop. Burns' blood coming out his nose, into Homer's mouth and out his ear was just gross.

Well that's not just it, it was the fact that "lesbian make-out scenes" has become a cheap on-the-spot gag.

It's bad enough they do that with males like the police officers in the movie, but here too?

I'm usually the first to jump in and complain about an annoying Simpsons cliche, but I actually found this scene hilarious, especially since it really only happened in Homer's imagination.

What about the fact that the scene will now lead to annoying animated gifs that people post on message boards about "Marge's lesbian kiss" which only happened in a fake imagination?

If it didn't happen with Marge, like say two of the other women there, I wouldn't be complaining.

How low have our standards fallen? Two women kissing is now "funny?"

I must say, I really enjoyed this episode. This is definitely one of the better episodes of the latter seasons (you know the one with the magic spaghetti sauce?) It was loads better than the last one. There were alot of good parts that made me laugh. The Homer-getting-hurt montage, Bart and the bullies on the "helicopter", Homer protecting the book club and the Footloose ending FTW!! (While most of you may disagree) this episode feels alot like the old episodes to me. I hope Groening and co. can crank out more good episodes like this in the future.

(This is the first episode I watched on FOX HD, and it looked AMAZING. Trust me, it does make a difference. ;))

8.7/10

Did anyone notice in the Footloose scene Bart makes this face:

Tracy Ullman reference!!! :D

I believe its because those shows were animated in full screen so it would be impossible to stretch it widescreen without it looking really weird.

Actually the funny thing I thought was when Chalmers was doing his dance there was a part that was pretty poorly done. When his arms were moving independent from his body. But I thought it looked funny so it can be forgiven. Plus I don't watch the Simpsons for animation quality anyway:p.

I liked this episode, thought it was funny that the container seemed to have an unlimited amount of pianos in it.

Captial City was punishment for those who failed a test or something?

I like in the second episode of the HD opening the Simpson family spoofing The Honeymooners, the Dick Van Dyke Show, the Brady Bunch, and Cheers (Scared by Sideshow Bob, who was voiced by Cheers cast member Kelsey Grammer!)

Seeing Marge kiss Lindsay was probably one of the the most disturbing things I have seen on the Simpsons. I think I blame it on the fact that it came out of nowhere. And this was a wierd episode but it was funny wierd and it wasn't that bad. I also loved Bart's face, it made me laugh, what Tracy Ullman short did it come from any way?
