The Secret Millionaire

First time I watched this. Just 'cos it was Blackpool. We raised money for Donna's Dream House at work so I'm glad to see where it actually went. I know they showed the very worst of Blackpool, but all in all I don't think it came off too badly.

And I've not finished yet...

why could someone not come up and say that to me? :(

She's been LOVELY this one :)
Her and the glasgow one....bring em back! :D

She lives on her own with her son in that big big mansion doesn't she?
Things like that make me feel a bit...:(
seems lonely.

The mega rich guy is the only one who hasn't. I think that they are told to do so by the producers, and it looked liked he had changed his mind, because from what I remember he did have a suit carrier with him when he arrived.

Although I didn't warm to the guy this week as much as some others, I think some posters are being harsh. He has only recently come into money and doesn't have the same riches as Nick (much as I liked him) does.

There's a programme on this week going back over previous shows seeing how the Millionaires have changed lives/kept in touch.

You can be very happy alone. I'm always happy alone. I feel lower when i'm around people. Remember being alone doesn't = lonely. Feeling lonely is a state of mind.

I think sometimes we hear "millionaire" and think they can afford anything and everything. His house wasn't that big for example. He is well off and very comfortable but I don't think he is in the same league as some of the other people.

He was a lovely bloke. Don't watch every week but did see that one and it moved me. The bit with the old soldiers brought a tear to my eye. But as always it ended with me being angry that people like that don't get help from us automatically. Donna's Dream House was fantastic, yet they were managing their budget almost day to day. It is shameful

You might think so, but you've only got to look at how much traffic, threaRAB about secret millionaire and other docs get on here.

Sadly nobody's watching or more likely the people most likely to meet a Secret Millionaire aren't watching.

I'm enjoying the update show no end though.
Emotional ups and downs for all concerned, donors and recipients.

I must say I do really like the show but am getting suspicous of the format.

After series 2 it was becoming obvious that nobody running a charity / club for struggling people would believe the cover story of "making a documentary about moving to.." and thought series 3 would at least have hidden cameras or a different cover story.

I also reckon that a "volunteer" from the production company goes to the area first and investigates the area and suitable community schemes first giving the millionaire at the very least a starting crib sheet.

As Snuff said - There's also been a couple of quotes from people in the last series that could be interpreted that the people knew all along. Nothing major - just a few quotes about "thought we'd be portrayed badly" etc..

I also noticed that when the lady that owned the Haulage company left the flat she'd be staying in there was still a lot of items over the bed in one of the bedrooms that I don't think she'd been using during the show..

I watched it with interest as I was brought up in Blackpool. I wasn't surprised that he picked Donna's Dream House for a donation, I'd said he'd do that before the show started.

Just watched the Secret millionaire - what an offensive, manipulative, old fashioned, pile of sh!te!

To have some rich git pop into people's live then decide who they are going to skim off a bit of their wealth to condescend to is positively Dickensian. If they wanted it secret they could just give the money!

Appalling show!
