The Saddest Songs Ever

cool thread, I love sad music. I know what u mean when u say that christmas music can be sad for u. It's crazy how a song can really bring you back to when u first heard it.
My favs from my DOWN playlist:
Al Green - "For the good times", "mend a broken heart"; Andre Nickatina - "blood in my hair", "rose"; Beck - "Girl of my Dreams", "everybody's gotta learn"; Bill Withers - "ain't no sunshine"; Wilco & Billy Bragg - "One by one"; Bob Dylan - "Don't think twice", "Girl from the north county (w/ J Cash); Bob Marley - "my cup" "redemption song"; Clash - "straight to hell"; Daniel Johnston - "Some things", "true love"

well Aeroplane is about how mangum wishes he could somehow meet and save anne frank, so i mean, that's not exactly a happy tone, even if you don't think its the saddest

I love that song but it doesn't seem sad at all to me. In fact I find it kind of upbeat in a weird, irreverent way. It's funny how two people can have such different interpretations of the same song, but I guess that's art for you.

Snuff-Slipknot
Soldier Side- System of a down
The ghost of you- My chemical Romance
Silver and cold-AFI

Thats all I can think of ._.

I have a pretty hard heart, but Richard Thompson's 1952 Vincent Black Lightning makes me cry every time. Townes Van Zandt's Tecumseh Valley is another one.

Yes.....I cry every time I hear drunken Ira Hayes and Jackson:rolleyes:

On the subject Of Johnny Cash though

Johnny Cash- I Hung My Head

EDIT: Ethan, Johnny Cash had tons of sad songs. Way more than just Hurt.
But not even close to all of his songs were sad.
