The return of "Sit Down, Shut Up" - Talkback

If that was supposed to be the last SDSU it would've given Miracle more lines, and Larry would be (hopefully) making out with her. Still, I thought it was an awesome epsiode.
 
I can't imagine what is in "Math Lab" that is so scary to FOX. Think of all the terrible things Family Guy does in prime time, how can "Math Lab"'s content be so innapropriate that it can't even air at midnight.

I really really hope this series gets a DVD release, I can't even find reviews of these episodes online anymore, the whole series seems forgotten, It's such a shame.
 
Good news and bad news, from FOX's recent November sweeps press release.

The bad news first: No new SDSU again on Oct 31/Nov 1st (which ever way you want to see it), instead a repeat ("Miracle's Are Real")

The even better news: The Wanda Sykes Show airs at 11:00, paving the way for the rest of Sit Down, Shut Up to air. (nice move by FOX, IMO, giving SDSU three real chances to maybe redeem itself)

And guess what's airing after the first episode of Wanda Sykes? Just a little episode named "Math Lab". Finally...

When Ennis (Will Arnett) proctors the standardized test for the gifted students, he accidentally convinces Happy (Tom Kenny) to dump a trailer full of kids into the harbor and forces the temporarily blinded Larry to come to the rescue. Meanwhile, Willard (Henry Winkler) tries to protect Stuart from getting scammed.

When Sue gives Andrew an ultimatum to turn around the drama department, he writes his magnum opus: a musical starring the teachers with Miracle as the female lead. Jealous of Andrew's casting, Helen resolves to sabotage the play. Meanwhile, Sue discovers that Ennis is smartest when he is intoxicated.
 
So SDSU follows the debut of the Wanda Sykes show, huh? Nice.
Hopefully, this will give the show another chance and get better ratings.

Here's to hoping the next SDSU is hilarious!
 
This show is certainly an interesting case. It seems similar: short-lived animated series canned way too early, produced and written (and starring) great talented people. The twist: everybody (not just critics) hated it.

And from the looks of the majority of reactions of its return, they still hate it based off of one first episode. And watching it now, it's hard to see why everybody still hates it. (obviously they must not be watching) This is the kind of series that the bloggers and whatnot would be championing. Sure, it gets a little too clever for its own good at times, but that's a small fault. I'm confused, was other short-lived shows despised as much in the beginning as those who would love it? (i.e. not "we're still idiotically biased against animated shows for adults" TV critics) Because I swear I'll be fuming if this comes to Adult Swim in a few years, only to be followed by massive praise and cries about how it "shouldn't have been cancelled". That's straight up hypocrisy, because you know those are the same people who watched the pilot and moaned about how it didn't live up to the lofty standards of Arrested Development. (seriously, Hurwitz's connection to the show hurt it significantly amongst the internet)

Like others say, I know wanting a "third" (really a second) season is absurd, but I really do hope it finds itself some sort of box blu-ray/DVD set in the future. Then when people scoff at me for having it on my shelf, I'll laugh and show them the episodes airing today. Oh, I'll turn them around, you bet I will...

It truly seems as if people couldn't take it in them to continue watching the series, even the critics that bashed the pilot but saw the later episodes have said the show improved drastically.

As far as other series go, that were hated on when they premiered only to be praised now. Mission Hill, Clone High, The Oblongs all received very negative reviews when they first premiered I believe.
 
Watching The Taming of the Dude on Hulu. So far, so good.
I like the pilliow fight scene, and Ennis "flying" followed by crashing and burning was hilarious.

This show is really improving, each new episode is making me laugh more and more. I wish FOX would put it back on Animation Domination, but hey, I guess they don't have enough animated dysfunctional-family sitcoms, right? :shrug:

EDIT: Finished watching it. That episode was great. Not hilarious like last week, but it was still worth watching.
Who knew that Marie was in Ennis' 90's sex video and was getting her revenge on him? That part where she did that hand gesture that Larry mentioned was brilliant.

I give it an 8.5/10
 
Watched Mr. Hoftard goes to Washington.
Another great episode, I loved Helen's "flirting" attmempts and how all of the subplots tied together in the end. Too bad it's so underrated.

I really enjoy the animation style in this series. Is there a Mission Hill connection to this series? Because the character designs look extremely similar.

I liked it. Stewart does a pretty good job impersonating other characters' voices. And it was funny seeing all the other characters having gag reflexes with the thought of Alanis Morissette wanting to marry Willard.

"555? That's the area code for Knob Haven!"

Yeah, I'll miss this show.

And I just noticed something. Happy's speaking in English now, with no translator like in the beginning. When did this change took place?
