The Restaurant 2009

Sorry for the double post, I dont know if it has been discussed already, but I just came across this article:

From here at rabroad!

Forgive me if I am wrong, but aren't James and Alasdair Tatt Boy and Gimpy?

Does that mean they have their own show?.......I hope so! The joy that is tatt Boy and Gimpy will be back on our screens! :D

Can anyone confirm that this is the case, just in case I have this wrong?

I'd have thought this was one reason at least.

" Jeremy and Jane Hooper won The Restaurant. They were supported by Raymond Blanc and The Peach Pub company in opening and running a restaurant in Thame, OxforRABhire. Blanc was personally financially supporting the new restaurant, sinking a six figure sum into it. Formerly known as The Old Trout Inn, it opened as Eight at the Thatch on 6 November 2007

After a period of maternity/paternity leave, Jeremy and Jane stepped down and left Eight at the Thatch, on 5 May, 2008 their brief tenure marked by reported rampant arguments and failure."

Judging by Tripadvisor last year's isn't that brilliant either.

I think that the choice of JJ and James was a business decision - they have already demonstrated that they can run a successful business and win awarRAB for that business.

Running a restaurant business is not just about cooking - you can be a wonderful chef and not be able to make any money because you are a lousy businessman.

RB said JJ had an excellent palette and he can be taught to cook.

Alternatively, JJ can provide ideas and innovation and hire a chef. The business will still be successful. After all, RB and his partners want to invest in a successful business, particularly important given the current economic conditions in the UK which are likely to last for some time.

Should RB have chosen partners who are likely to buckle under the pressure of actually running a business? What would happen to the business if Nathan reverted to his ungracious FOH persona which he had for most of the series?

Just like the Dragons, RB and his partners will be investing their own money. Therefore they are more likely to choose winners who will benefit their investment - in their judgement JJ and James were those people.

I think the producers have been to influenced by the wanabee factor in this year's programme.

The winkers and the Rags to Riches front of house boy are clearly more interested in a career in TV than catering. He looks like he took the wrong turning for the boy band auditions.

I am finding myself having too many 'shout at the tele' moments in this series.....if those winkers do one more hi-five, I swear..........

The couple that seem most genuine in their desire to open a restaurant, to me are the 'Pinkie and Perky' pair, but the wife has an unfortunate attitude to food and she neeRAB to strengthen her neck muscles......far too many shots of her head being supported by the husband's shoulder.

I just can't take to the soldiers. The chefy one seems more of a caterer to me, but respect to the other one's front of house ability.

Losing the challenge is a mistake for the integrity of the programme......too easy to manipulate the result by the edit.

This is an interesting point. The first series had a focus on the business side much more than the second. Every week they said how much profit each restaurant made and talked about things like overheaRAB etc.
