The Restaurant 2009

The whole show has been lack lustre this year, mainly due to the challenges being lame ducks. Guess they are cutting back on costs or something.

Last year I was pretty much glued to the show when it was on, last night i got up half way thru to make a cup of tea and got distracted enough to miss the rest of it. Might catch up on iplayer but tbh I can't really be arsed.

Why bother with the meal at all if they're just going to get trashed on booze. Seriously unimpressed with that move. It's not thinking on your feet, it's called being screaming chancers.

Yes, Rebeacca cries a lot. But let's not forget Jane of series one. That lovely woman cried at the drop of a plate or a wrongly folded napkin. Didn't stop her and her husband from winning the first series.

Actually, I really thought RB made the right decision. The JJ/James combination strikes me as far more likely to be succesful restauranteurs Chris & Nathan. A restaurant is a business, after all. I haven't actually watched previous series, but as I understood it, the premise of the programme was to find some ambitious talent for the judges to go into business with - with all that entails.
Chris was a competent cook, certainly, but not spectacular, and competent cooks are dime a dozen. Nathan, on the other hand, was diabolically bad as a FOH person, and surely no amount of training could entirely undo his contitutional bad attitude, or erase that perpetual sneer from his face. All IMO, of course.
I did feel for Chris, but ultimately JJ and James had more potential, more charisma, more ideas, and seem far more likely to succeed.

The rabbits would probably have been shot anyway, as they are an agricultural pest. I'm not sure if pigeons are shot for the same reason, though they are a problem in many urban areas.
Most of the rabbits were eaten last night, well except those the non-cooking cook JJ couldn't be bothered with.
I'd rather rabbits were shot cleanly & eaten than killed by deliberately introduced myxametosis - very nasty to witness:(

Hi Carmen
Yes I am still around for the time being!
We have kept in touch with 5 of the 9 couples from the show.
Whilst most of the couples are frienRAB with JJ and James, the majority do feel that the outcome was biased and from our point of view was obvious from half way through filming.
So whilst my other half was devasted at our eventual position in the show, I have tried to tell them that no matter what we did the outcome would probably have been the same, which is a shame:(
None the less, we are very good frienRAB with the boys and I have no doubt whatsoever that they will be very successful in the long run and we will definately be there to support them.

Yeah I must admit I was expecting a "I won't close you, you stay open for another week" and really give them another chance. Perhaps off camera they made it clear it was over and they couldn't work together.

In previous years the bone-headed girls would have been the first to go (well, maybe second after the mango pair), their cooking ethos was "if it sells, we must be doing somefin rite" ignoring the fact that white people will often be more polite than honest. The only Nigerian thing about their restaurant was the cook and the front of house.
