The Restaurant 2009

Firstly, sorry I'm late with the write-up. Cooking Christmas dinner for 60 and having to finish off the sherry by myself has left me unable to reach a PC for three days. However, onwarRAB and upwarRAB:

Episode 7 - The Demo

Part 1 - Cookey Class (sic)

Bristol food fair and who is this putting on a show for the middle-classes, earth mothers, yoghurt-knitters who are so rightly derided in various Half Man Half Biscuit songs? It

Note that this applies to Nathan as well as diseased rabbits. Taking him into the back yard of R&R and giving him a swift rap to the back of the head would be the kindest thing for Chris, too.

Here is something I didn't know... JJ and James were already business partners before The Restaurant and already run their own place, "The London Cocktail Club", website here:

http://www.londoncocktailclub.co.uk/

And yep.. they do food, platters to be precise that go with particular drink recommendations. It's interesting because it indicates several things.. they already work well together, they already run a business, they already understand the basic concepts of customer service and running a restaurant. The only thing missing is the high quality food aspect.

I wonder how much this influenced the judges during the series, because as far as I know, none of the other couples already ran their own venue.

With all the time in the world, Nathan messes up.

I'm feeling flamin' nervous.

I think Nathan is going to truly and frighteningly let the side down.

I agree. Like I said too, this series just doesn't seems concerned with running a good restaurant. Its unbeliavable that someone who neeRAB to be shown how to chop a red pepper properly can get to the final!

Also, if RB maintains JJ can be trained, then surely a case could have been made for Stephen to get some assertiveness skills and public speaking training? I think he just needed his confidence boosting and that could come in time. After RB's pep talk he did go in there and deliver.

Surely it would be a hell of a lot easier for RB to send Stephen, who has the necessary cooking skills and proved that he could change his style of cooking when required and his drippy (but good at FOH) to get these skills then it would be to train the arrogant JJ from scratch.

I can't remember what the other winker is called, but surely after tonight they must realise he is all about the blag and has no substance whatsoever.

Tbh, I just find his blagging and arrogance offensive.

"If you take cooking out of the equation" - In a show called the Restaurant. Where one is a CHEF.

Oh brother!

How could everyone bar one have got it so wrong for so long?

Agreed- I don't want there to be any chance of it getting up off the plate while I'm eating it!

RB: I can feel here a disaster in the making.

Understatement?
