The Restaurant 2009

The Apprentice is a good example of a programme which is only worth watching for its comedy value. It has no credibility as a business programme because the contestants are selected for their personality not their ability. At least Dragons' Den focuses on the competitors' business plans and - more or less - ignores their personalities.

This series of The Restaurant is a disappointment because of the way it's been pared down, presumably to cut costs. But it still allows those who can cook to show that they can, and those that can run front-of-house to demonstrate their talent. There are some talented contestants this time, just no standout team. Maybe that's intentional, in which case it's a mistake.

Was it only me who heard one of the winkers describing a dish as having canine mayonnaise/pepper - played it back and still sounded like canine instead of cayenne.

Not a good sign that they are going to D'Soiree - I know last time they met at the restaurant of the week, but I think this time they might be meeting at the loser's restaurant.

I hope not, I think R&R or the Winkers (preferably the latter) should go.

Boycotted it but caught the last few mins whilst waiting for the next show. Saw him making a tiny chocolate cup so can I asume next week is him making chocolate cocktail glasses for Winker usage?

Just a couple of points:

1. What proof do you have of the producers interfering in who went last night? Rayomnd gave a reason why he was hesitiating to close the winkers resturarnt on air last night, one that was shared with one of the others involved in making the decision. That was that they were 'stratagists'. What you suggest may or may not be true, but lets not talk about it as though it is a fact.

2. Go back to this point in last years show and see what we were all saying about tatboy and gimpy.
