The Restaurant 2009

Fabulous, fabulous people! What a bunch of scary b's this lot are?! Why do urbanite, middle class people think they can cook - Mrs Bank Manager  and her glossy daughter were jokes, surely, how on earth do they open tins at home? Mesdames Posh and Posher who want to source 90% of their ingredients from local farmers - how are you going to do that in the depths of winter?

I'm not hating Simon Le Bon and his honcho as much as I should - are they the Alistair and thingy from last year?

Mr and Mrs Spitting-Image might be fun. Why after several decades of marriage do the Gravlaxes still keep touching each other up?, stop it - not nice.

The Mutton sisters won't make the final straight. My early money is on the two proper cooks, "I was brought up on oven chips" and the Army blokes. Let's hope the Army non-cook has some dodgy clients lined up for him, can't wait for Raymond's lecture about the use of numchucks on paying customers!

I’d agree with Raymond on this:

The winners chosen by my fellow judges, Sarah and David, and me, were the team we felt to have the most potential to develop.

Sure, a couple that can do fcuk all to begin with do have the most potential to develop.

probably about as well as a souffle, to be honest...;)

i do agree they failed to deliver what was asked of them, but i don't feel it hurts to praise them a tiny bit for thinking on their feet.

i've only just found this thread and also only started watching the restaurant this series, so never knew pervious series were more 'challenging' - i was wondering last night why the couples are not talked through their problems - i.e. nathan managing his rudeness, the nigerian girls drifting away from their concept.

for a new watcher, it was clear to me from week 2 that the winkers were raymond's favourites and i couldn't understand why he got rid of the young girls??

and it does seem odd that it's only been on for a few weeks yet there are only 4 couples left!!

i hope the twins win as at least he can cook proper food and run a service... just wish his wife would harden up a bit and stop being so squimish!

Absolutely agree that it was comedy gold. Think it should be required viewing for all potential comedy scriptwriters!

Shame that it left so many feeling conned!

What really seems to be interesting is the overwhelming nature of the condemnation of the programme and Blanc. Most of us are used to huge divisions of opinions as to who should win cf X-factor, BB, and Strictly etc., but never have I seen such unanimity against a decision on a TV programme . You really do have to search hard to find a positive post!

Despite Blanc's ramblings on his blog and the 'reasons' on the BBC homepage, I agree that this decision will sully his reputation.

Makes good reading tho'!!!!:D:D:D
