The Restaurant 2009

I cannot believe that any of these people could run a restaurant in real life - I wouldn't be visiting for sure. Last year 3 couples I wanted to win this year none of them - please can we have people who can cook next time

Sarah said: "The concept of cocktails with food really excites all of us and will give their restaurant a point of difference on a tough high street. I can't wait to get going.
"It's a very difficult environment out there at the moment, with restaurants closing every day. We needed to find a couple with business sense, drive and bags of positivity.
"JJ and James were the contestants who remained positive, no matter what was thrown at them. They have a will to succeed that cannot be trained. Also, JJ makes the best cocktails I've ever tasted! With such an amazing palate I have total faith that in Raymond's kitchen he will learn to cook food as good as he makes cocktails."

Sarah's obviously not a rabroad reader, then.

Can't wait :) Really love this show!

Chris Hanson last year was too funny- 'Looks like I gave ya a double dose there luv!' and 'I lost to a chinese man what can't cook rice!' Hahah.

This is why I don't do customer service as that is how I talk to moron customers as well! :D

I have got myself into all sorts of trouble not suffering fools gladly. :D

It's annoying isn't it, but I think the reason is because this year the restaurants are not actually really functioning at all. In past years the restaurants did open for some of the week and their performance was monitered, however I think this year the 'service' we see each week is prob the only time they are open. They are not running their restaurants for profit, they are merely running them for the week's task, so all the fun and indeed interest that went with seeing how they are actually getting along running a restaruant has been lost.
Plus most of the real work seems to be done by properly trained sous chef's and waiting staff. I reckon they are probably given a weekly budget so they can actually open their restaurant and the beeb are probably relieved if they manage to get through it without poisoning / stabbing anyone, let alone worry about whether they are making a profit or not :D

I imagine he will have some publicity duties for when the spin-oRAB appear next year so he's probably fine tuning and polishing his responses to the inevitable questions.

Nah, on second thoughts he'll just get JJ to whip up some cocktails to get the journos plastered whilst he nips out the window with a muttered gallic "zoiks".
