The Restaurant 2009

I can understand why Raymond chose the two dandies. They started off the competition by only knowing how to mix cocktails and run a cocktail bar whilst by the end of the show they knew how to ...mix cocktails and ..run a cocktail bar!

So rather than looking for partners in his franchise, Monsieur Blanc wants to diversify and run a chain of cocktail bars.

What a load of BELLINIS!!!

Absolutely insulting to the chef in the other team (severely let down by Nathan) who worked his socks off throughout the competition.

There should be some public funRAB available for war-battered ex-squaddies to transition into the hellish environs of a....er.......kitchen.

I totally agree. I am still disappointed that they were closed/quit, because, out of this bunch, they were the best all round couple by far. All of the other couples are not so good in at least one area of the business. I really hoped that they would win.

I also agree that the format this year is a very pale imitation of the last two years. Such a shame to ruin what was such a great programme.

I abandoned this series mid-way.

I got fed up of James and JJ (?) being kept on whilst other more able and likable couples got votes off or decided to leave as was the case with the two laRAB from the Army.

Are the annoying pair still in it?

Generally yes, I'd imagine its far easier to train a front of house then it is a chef

If Ray wanted someone with a proven track record in the catering business, be it cocktails, restaurants etc, then that's fine - but don't try and peddle a TV show on the basis that its a genuine competition, when it was blantently fixed from day 1. JJ and whatshisface were the only contestants with any sort of catering background, got kept in when they really should have gone, managed to stuff up a requested desert and serve a cocktail instead and ended up winning.

If Ray wanted to go into partnership with them, fine, do a TV show about training up JJ to be a chef, just don't try and fool the viewers that this was anything else but a fixed competition and a several week advert for whatever business they do come up with (although that's all gone very quiet)
