The Restaurant 2009

They have sold all 8 potions!

One whole rabbit each! :D

They should team up with the apprentice lot who order one chicken per pizza!

Can't cook, can't cook!

This group really are as bad as each other. How did they even pass their auditions ? They make last year`s bunch look like Michelin star chefs

I share the general view that two episodes a week was more entertaining, but it seems that sweeping cuts have been made across the board this year and we are stuck with 'The Restaurant Lite' this year.

I think that most of us are on the same page regarding the quality of participants -- let's see how the weeks progress :D I do have to add my voice to the clamour about 'the knife' mother and daughter act ... I actually had to turn away from the telly for fear of seeing an appendage being sliced off! Even if they didn't bring a can opener with them, they were in a kitchen and could have simply asked someone for one surely?

And the son and mother duo ... there must be more to their story surely? How could they have made it through the vetting process without being able to write down on an application form or verbalise in an interview what the hell-o the plans were? I'm not trying to apologise for them, but I wonder if they were called up as last-minute replacements or something?

Anyway, enjoyed the first episode.

Glad this poncy show has at last touched base with reality. All the simpering ninnies with their dull as ditchwater foody guff got the push weeks ago. Love to see the Winkers win it, but Chris and Nathan probably have a clear run at the prize.

Every year Raymond Blanc gives out prizes for the winner of the Coeliac Chef of the year.
I would urge everyone here to email the society and tell them that he devalues the validity of the competition and that you think they should have someone else giving out the prizes, as how do we know whether they are a good chef - or just good at getting people drunk ?!!

The whole episode just made me cringe ............. dont really know what to say about any of them. The only ones with any slight merit are the couple with 'The Front Room' and the badger pairing. The rest dont have a clue.

I cant believe this is the best people they could find, as someone who works in this industry I know there are much better people out there who would jump at the opportunity and would lend an air of professionalism to the whole thing.

BUT maybe Im missing the point - it seems that its not about finding great chefs and front of house people who are passionate about hospitality but finding characters who will make for interesting TV. I reckon my commis chefs and regular waiting staff could do a better job!!

Absolutely right. I check in about 5 times a day to gleefully await a Buck update. He/she has the same sense of humour to me and I just LOVE it! Keep it up Buck, you have a growing fan base!:)

I think it is at least possible that they will have a shock ending and close all of the restaurants. Sarah seemed to be suggesting it last night.

Such a disappointment this series!

FWIW last night I thought the winkers deserved to stay in because of their hard work at the tea party. Yes I know they bought the cakes, but they did at least seem to realise that it was all about getting people served, keeping the customer satisfied.

I could just shake Nathan.

And the cake :D
BTW did they really only have an afternoon to prepare? because I would have thought it very tight timing to bake a fruit cake and let it cool enough to decorate it in that time.

Sigh. So we lost B&B and still have the winkers... very disappointing. I'd love to know what Raymond's "on" to keep those two in every week?

There's not much you can say about Nathan's rudeness, other than he should have been booted.

Currently my money's on Rebecca and Stephen to win.

(Oh, and I agree that the show's format change has been to its detriment.)

I couldn't muster the enthusiasm to watch this week. Was it any good?

I see from the posts here that the Winkers are still there. I am not having a good TV week
