The Restaurant 2009

I like Sarah.

I think she is very restrained. If I was her I'd have much worse to say. She is investing her money in one of the pairs  Heaven help her

Firstly, a big thank you to everyone who has been posting on this thread to-day. If it hadn't been at the top of the listings during my cursory glance at RAB to-day, I would have been none the wiser. I hadn't a clue there was a new series..I've not seen a sign of any trailers.

As it is, the relief I had only missed one episode, enabled me to hot tail it over to iplayer & catch up. phew!

What is really puzzling me..total  factor, is the knives incident. Even my boys with their "leave everything to Mum" mentality know how to find & use a tin opener in the case of a dire emergency. Can anyone in this day and age not know how to open a tin?

Now I've returned to the thread & caught up with Buck's synopsis I don't know which I am looking forward to more..tonight's episode or Buck's summing up. :)

Please keep up the good work Buck..utterly brilliant, I've been laughing out loud throughout.

My wife and I just couldn't believe this travesty of a result.:mad: Mind you, we couldn't even believe that the w*nkers made the final.

They epitomise everything that's wrong with this country nowadays: true talent is consigned to the scrapheap while smarmy idiot chancers make their way to the top. Perhaps this is what also happens in the banking sector and this was the cause of the current financial crisis?

As for Raymond Blanc, he's just lost any credibility he ever had in one fell swoop. I'm never buying his endorsed croissants in Tescos ever again! :D

On the point of 'JJ can be trained'- I'm not so sure.

He seems to have little passion for food and no desire to learn, as evidenced by him not bothering to read and research in an attempt to find some things for himself. He's lazy when it come to food, you can see it, and wants to be spoon fed 'how to become a chef'. That'll never produce a good chef. This is furthered when you see his attempt at a souffle- he gave up straight away, didn't bother referring to the recipe to attempt to rectify his mistake. He had no concept of how to whip an egg white, something most home cooks know how to do.

I think JJ has taken up the space of a worthy chef who would love to improve and become a good chef under the guidance of RB.

Mm, sounRAB to me like 'My PR people have been sent off to make up some stuff, I've given them till lunch.'

I agree it's marketing, but it's such fantastically bad marketing. Nobody who's watched the show will want to go to their place, either for food or some faintly sweaty cocktail. Not only that, it's affected the viewers' opinion on Raymond Blanc as well - more interested in marketing that food. If it's a good idea (and I'm not convinced) then they'd have been much better off to take these boys out of the show, go into business with them separately and sell that business on the 'concept' and chosen two likable talented people for the show. As it is, they're going to sell this idea only to people who haven't watched this.

Poor old Chris.

Nathan seems to be as much use as a concrete life-belt to a drowning man.

I can't decide whether Chris & Nathan ought to go (because of Nathan's appaling FoH skills) or the Winkers because the chef can't (or daren't ?) cook.

What a tough choice!

Z

I agree, i feel for Chris. Can't bring myself to feel sorry for Nathen because it's probably a lot down to him they didn't win.

I can't bring myself to be annoyed with the result even if i don't agree with it though. It's less disappointing than Tatman and Gimpy not winning last year when these two have won this year tbh.
