The Reel Awards 1930-2006:RESULTS!

The voting just began at the beginning of December. Before that, there were two months allotted for fans to send in their nominations for movies.

Too bad you didn't notice the thread then, it would have been great to have some Chaplin and Lynch nominees!
 
I just voted.
I don't agree with all these choices, it could have some Miyazaki, Almodovar, Lynch or Chaplin movies ! But it does not matter, that will be for next year ;)

With all these categories and movies, that probably took a lot of time to classify all the votes !! so Good luck for you :)
 
Watch it, if only because it's the original with the Rat Pack! And you have to watch it for the ending. But make sure you're wide awake because it's a bit slow-going and you might fall asleep if you're feeling tired.

Yes. The only remake I liked was Ocean's Eleven, but that was probably because I didn't really like the original (I found it a bit slow-going, especially in the beginning). And because the remake was really only in name, considering how much they deviated from the original.
 
Another remake i really enjoyed that was done some years ago now was "What ever happened to Baby Jane? starring Lynn and Vanessa Redgrave.

I think the original starred Bette Davis and Joan Crawford. I've seen both. But I loved the remake more.
 
I honestly don't remember the last remake that I liked... I really didn't like Zombie's Halloween. One of my favorite quick critic analysis'... On the Halloween remake

Audiences Loved It: Not only do you get a Rob Zombie gorefest, you also get the never-before origin of how Michael Myers grew from gloomy little kid to psychotic serial killer.

Critics Hated It: A bitch-slap in the face to John Carpenter's original. In "re-imagining" the iconic white mask, Zombie sucks the dark-fun out of the franchise.
 
I was stuck on a few categories. But I just kind of went with my first instinct you know.

I find with remakes that the intentions are good and the ideas are good, but most of the time they are poorly executed. Especially when you're used to the original and have high expectations.

One of the most recent remakes that I found to be really great was Rob Zombie's Halloween. He had a great take on that story.
