The Ratings Thread (Part 13)

Wow Newsround 0.8m gets more viewers than Daybreak 0.5m...suppose I can't compare them to each other really as one has high quality presenters, and the other one is on in the morning..lol

Yes we were talking about this on Gallifrey Base. I think it's a well deserved win and I'm glad people remembered when the show was really good. Great to see it beat the rip off Saturday Night Takeaway as well. The Two Ronnies should have been higher though.

They might have come home and not won the jackpot LOL.
However, POG seems to be doing the best that can be expected in his slot against New Tricks, which at times has beaten Coronation St in the ratings( though not shown at the same time). I wonder, though, if ITV might consider moving him to the 5pm slot, where he seems to do best.

Modern Family is obviously the stand-out but The Middle is doing really well too. A year ago it was hovering around 2.0 but now it's a great start to the night. They'll probably be hoping for the same thing to happen to Better With You.

But 10pm is really dragging them down. They haven't ranked better than third at all this season on Wednesdays because of The Whole Truth.

Absolutely nothing in the 21st Century has launched successfully at 10pm on Wednesdays for ABC - just looking through the schedules from seasons gone by on Wiki and there must be more than a dozen shows which have come and gone. The only way they're going to solve the problem is by moving an existing hit into that hour.

I don't think that he'd be a good host for the show. Dare I say Graham Norton and even I can't believe I'm saying that. But he is witty, quick and really would do a good job.

Sadly this isn't the Bruce of The Gen Game in the seventies hosting Strictly.

Note that UK TV Guide/DigiGuide has failed to update for ITV1 for week beginning 13th November, presumably they want to keep the scheduling for that week under wraps. ITV Press Office also gives very little clues about the schedules for that week - the only show in there is All Star Family Fortunes for 18:15 on the Saturday.

However, it has updated with the ITV2 schedules for that week, so you can tell some things:

- The X Factor will be on from 20:00 to 21:30 on 13th November
- The X Factor Results Show, however, looks like it will be on from 19:45 to 21:00 on 14th November... I say that as the repeat showings on ITV2 for the results are 75 minutes long
- I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! launches from 21:00 to 22:00 on 14th November (note - I can see this changing to finish at 22:30, but Get Me Out Of Here! Now! is currently listed as starting at 22:00 on ITV2)
- England vs France will be live on ITV1 on Wednesday, 17th November meaning I'm a Celebrity will not be on (nor will the spin-off be on)... that means I'm a Celebrity will be on for at least 90 minutes on Thursday, 18th November meaning Coronation Street will be moved

It was relatively low - around 400-500,000 IIRC - but heck, that's where about The Inbetweeners began. Hopefully it'll get towarRAB the 700-800,000 mark at least for series 2.

And talking digital according to The Sun Him & Her has been recommissioned by BBC3 after "record" ratings of 600,000 for a new BBC3 comedy.

BARB, latest set of official ratings:

13 DEAL OR NO DEAL (THU 1613) 1.86
15 DEAL OR NO DEAL (WED 1612) 1.79
23 DEAL OR NO DEAL (FRI 1611) 1.66
27 DEAL OR NO DEAL (MON 1612) 1.55
28 DEAL OR NO DEAL (SUN 1645) 1.54

Coincidentally, I notice Jamie's 30 Minute Meals at 5:30pm is bringing in ~1.6m, no doubt one of the few shows doing well in that slot this year.

TV Burp finished at 19:55. The X Factor started at 19:59.

Any figures for the E4 8.30pm screening of the 6.30pm show, and also how FrienRAB is doing at 7pm. Personally I think this week dispels the idea that axing the E4 First Look would boost the C4 figures - viewers would likely just leave instead. Good to see Later doing relatively well. I did think considering the week is based around new characters rather than established characters like previous series it could hover around the 400,000 mark - but seems to be comfortably above that.

As for the Million Pound Drop - I know it wouldn't be reflected in ratings, but do those playing online also watch the show online too. I'd have thought the game would integrate the broadcast into it.

Gordon Ramsey though has lost a lot of credibility in the last couple of years, which is crucial for his C4 shows - but wouldn't matter at all for a revival of Hells Kitchen on ITV. I'm sure ITV would happily resurrect the brand if they had him on board - though hopefully would see the sense in going the US route and making it a credible competition rather than sticking to the live celebrity popularity format.

How has Five managed to catch up with Home and Away considering how far behind they got? I presume they must've aired over Christmas etc. while it was having a break on seven. :o

Great figures for both Strictly and The X Factor, plus Downton Abbey and Countryfile are performing exceedingly well. Any news on how TV Burp did? It seems to have lost momentum and, after watching Saturday's show, I cannot say I'm surprised.
