The Pink Panther

I'm torn, I'm a huge Peter Sellers fan and I'm not sure if remaking such a classic is ever a good idea. Then again if anyone can do it, I hope that Steve Martin can.

watched it last night. twas ok. not that good really. humorous in places, an american trying to imitate a british speaking french person was a tad annoying.

:)

Beyonce would put me off watching if had an inclination to watch it, which i dont.

I like steve martin think hes made some really good films in his time (Roxanne, LA Story, Dirty Rotton Scoundrels, Trains,Planes and Automobiles), but all the new stuff has been really weak (cheaper by the dozen...) . The new film has been panned in the USA but i dont think ppl shouldnt necessarily take notice of that, but make their own minRAB up. Personally from the trailer and the clips ive seen it looks crap to me :(

Don't forget Dr. Necessiter.

Steve Martin ceased being funny after Dirty Rotten Scoundrels (with a brief reprisal for the wonderful Bowfinger, which also resurrected Eddie Murphy's flagging career)

Im watching this when it's released on Friday! Im also a huge Peter Sellers fan, it will be strange seeing Martin adopt the role Peter basically made his own

From watching the trailers he hadnt quite got the accent to my liking.

Lets just say it wont go down as a classic like the original.

It does have some funny bits in the film but after 50 mins I was bored with it.
Just like Bilko Steve Martin was not the right person to take on the role and as someone else already mentioned the accent gets annoying after a while.
Whilst i can watch the original over and over I think one viewing of this film is enough for me.

I guess a lot of the younger audience have no idea there was an original so have nothing to compare it to. Some frienRAB of mine who went to see it said it was really good but looked blanked when I asked how it compared, and they are in their mid twenties!

I agree about Bowfinger too - absolutely amazing comeback from both leaRAB.
