The Oscars

a fool and his money are easily parted but I ve got a bet on clint eastwood and johnny depp at 22 and 20 to 1 respectivelyto win best actor.I think foxx may have peaked too soon as last christmas they were saying he was a lock.I have a bet on foxx to win best supporting at 25/1.

Best Original Screenplay goes to

Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind

Never heard of it!

I really hate the new format for the Oscars. Cate Blanchett handing an Oscar out in the middle of the audience? What's that all about? And Sharon Osborne and Jamie Theakston presenting it. I miss Jonathan Ross and the BBC!!!

My thoughts on the oscars:

Sky's coverage: Sharon Osbourne paid for doing next to nothing - it was all Jamie Theakston.

Also I preferred the BBC's, just because I prefer comment than adverts.

The Oscar's themselves:

Beyonce overkill - three songs and her voice isn't really classic enough to sing with Andrew Lloyd Webber

Chris Rock - Indifferent. I liked some of his jokes, like when he was talking about the Oscar being presented on stage, because some of them were being presented to winners next to their chairs (I didn't like that idea - a bit unfair)

The Winners - a bit annoyed that Scorsese didn't win, I think he's going to go the same way as Hitchcock. Other than that, they were quite good choices.

The Shortened Length - Made it a bit more watchable. However, the most enjoyable show that I've seen in a long time was the one Whoopi Goldberg presented and that was ages.

That's all folks!

It's not racism at all! You've got to understand the subtext. Chris was recognising that after centuries of discrimination, blacks are now getting reasonable recognition in American society. He wasn't saying "Four black nominees. Take that white people!" He was just pointing out blacks are doing Ok. You can't use the simplistic Daily Mail view of equality, which states if black people praise others for being black then that's not on. It's also a very American thing and you wouldn't see black British people saying this sort of stuff.

It's hard to understand unless you have some appreciation of American race relations.

As for the ceremony, well done Clint! Having said that, not a great year.

I've just had a look at the TV guide on www.sky.com. E! are doing coverage of the build-up until 1am and then showing documentaries until 5am when they will have a post-Oscars party show. So the answer is no, they are not allowed to screen the actual ceremony apparently.

I'm just as annoyed as you are. I'm paying a hefty Sky Sports subscription and yet Mr Murdoch Jnr has deemed that this is still not enough to enable me to be able to watch events like this.

Yeah right! If a white person said the same it would be wrong. Therefore it wrong for a black person as well no matter what.

Either we treat such people as people or we treat them like the "Blacks" that they keep reminding us they are. The trouble is they want it both ways and all ways whilst we are vitimised if we said anything along those lines.

It's pathetic!

You are obviously a die hard fan that just refuses to see it at all, so we'll leave it there.

I for one will not put up with any racist comments from anyone. And if you saw it all, he was inserting the black word in wherever he could fit it all night. The bloke is simply a racist hiding behind the "you can't touch me because I'm a minority" and vary sadly it works!
