The Onedin Line repeats on Tuesday 27 th

Watched the first episode of this today, though I saw it first time round.

Not that it matters, the harbour scene was filmed as were many subsequent nautical dramas at Charlestown in Cornwall.
It amused me when they just "set sail" and went off. Anyone who's seen a tall ship leave Charlestown dock, knows that they would have had to warp them out by hand with several men hauling on long ropes, as they need to negotiate a tight turn to port to get out of the dock and out to sea, quite impressive.

Not much has changed there since this was made.

I was watching this until last week, then stupid digibox decided to erase almost all series timers I'd set so I missed recording a week of episodes without knowing.

Couldn't be bothered to try to follow it after that.

I hate digital tv with a vengeance. My signal is completely rubbish!

I wish the poster who said it was on earlier this year would reply again as they presumably know how many episodes they showed.

If they are just going to endlessly rerun the first two series it will be very frustrating.

BTW I noticed on e bay someone selling DVRAB of all 8 series? I was not aware any more than half these were ever released.

They're not, you're probably looking at someone who taped it off telly and put it on a DVD-R. I have all 8 seasons, obtained via "other means", but the first four series were released to DVD that I know of (I have all four).

When UK Drama started up first they showed the entire series run. Up until then I had always thought it ended on series 4, and was delighted to realise it went further. Great stories too and an ending that.... well, I won't say in case you get to see it.
Sadly, when UKD repeated the series later they just went up to I think series 3 and then repeated, and when it moved to UK Gold the same thing, so I don't know about Yesterday, but would probably expect them to do the same, ie show only 2 or 3 series.

PM me if you want to get the other series...

Looks like I'm in the minority but I hated this programme as a child. It used to fill me with dread of boredom when the music started on a Sunday night. Might be better now I'm an adult I suppose, so I should give it a go.

John Wyaman as the Count has had me stitches this whole episode. The acting has always been dodgy on this show, but he takes it to a whole new level. And that Swedish accent is atrocious and unintentionally hilarious. Wonderful stuff. :D

I'm sure I hated it when it was first out - I'd have been about 7 or 8 then so it would have been entirely the wrong programme for me, and it was on Sunday evening:(.

I recall watching it a few years later when it finished and quite enjoyed it.

Now, after two episodes, I think it's superb.

The episode the other week set in France during the Franco Prussian war was hilarious.

I kept thinking it was done as a comedy episode and that it had clearly inspired Allo, Allo.

The accents, the way one after the other they all miraculously crossed war torn France alone and arrived unscathed and approached the Prussian officer with the incredibly funny accent.

All it lacked was one of them saying 'Good Moaning'. :)

Really enjoying the re-run of O-L.

Like others, was too young to appreciate it originally but lapping it up now.

I'm particularly enjoying the humour of it, which I would never have dreamt it could contain!

I'm another one for whom this series seemed utterly boring as a child, but I'm loving these repeats, so I hope Yesterday manage to go further than the first few series...

Indeed and he is not a patch on the first one.

Anyone know why they changed him like that?

And Frazer clearing off to the jungle whilst his pet steam ship had just got the go ahead simply did not ring true.

They could have more credibly killed him off when someone misunderstood his posh voice and shot him. :)

Some promising news.

Digigiude now lists Yesterday programmes up to 30 September and Onedin Line episodes up to Series 4 episode 5 (Quarantine) which airs on 30 September.

So at least the first four series by the looks of it. :)

I of course love this show, but did anyone see the "fight scene" when Fogarty returned and James fought him for his sister's honour? I swear, I never laughed so much! All it was missing was the Looney Tunes music and sound effects! :D
