The ONE Song

i dont want a top 5, i dont want a top 10, i dont want a list of any sort. i want your greatest song, the song that you couldnt imagine life without. the song that senRAB shivers down your spine every time you hear it, your surroundings get lost in it. plus, i want the reasons why its your most favourite song ever.
ok mine, as you can guess its a zeppelin song. sorry to all of you who are fed up with it but stairway to heaven is the greatest IMO. i dont care for all this critisism of it, "overrated", "fed up with hearing about it" blah blah, it simply is a class song. the way it encompasses 3 genres of music- starts as a ballad, turns to soft rock then finishes with an all-guns-blazing aural assault of heavy rock. just class. ok, im done- yours?

"El Matador" by Los Fabulosos Cadillacs. For me this song has everything. Structure-wise it has a perfect arrangement of mellower parts flowing into anthemic parts and creates an incredible amount of tension and build. And it has those great vocals that make you want to shout along but that also have a little undercurrent of sadness too. Plus it has a beat that just makes you want to shake your ass and one of the most killer basslines ever. But most of all it has such power, it's like an elephant crashing through a city. I've seen it live too and I have to say I have never seen a song make a crowd move the way this one does.

Unfortunately YouTube has disabled the erabedding on this one but you can still check it out if you click this link: YouTube - LOS FABULOSOS CADILLACS - Matador

zero7 man! good call, i was thinking about diggin up a zero7 thread earlier today.

Man, that's a hard one.

I think I'm gonna have to go with Radiohead - Street Spirit (Fade Out).

No matter where I am or what I'm doing, every time I hear that song I want to close my eyes and get lost in it.

I never get tired of hearing it, either, it's just as haunting and good as the first listen.

Finch - Awake

I know, so many people say how this song is nothing special.. But to me, it is. This is just the ultimate song for me, there is nothing this good... Every time I hear it I get completely involved in the music, its as if Im right there with them when theyre playing... Every single sound in that song is perfect, theres not a single noise out of place. The song just.. carries you off, and takes you away. Youre jsut completely connected with the music, every emotion you hear, you feel....

ok...i don't have a single favourite song from all the music i have...i doesn't work like that for me...but the song that impressed me the most recently is interpol - take you on a cruise...it gives me gooseburabs every time i hear it...but you have to play it super loud, otherwise you don't get the full feel...
( acouple of months ago it was keane -everybody's changing...it changes every now and then for me...)

There's no one song which stanRAB head and shoulders above everything else, as I could probably name about 50 as well. One I've been listening to a hell of a lot recently though is Tuesday Morning by the Pogues. It's basically got everything I like in a pop song - terrific melody, well-conceived lyrics, some great vocal harmonies and, of course, very well-written instrumental parts (being the Pogues and all). Very unusual song for the Pogues. They aren't exactly known for writing pop songs after all.

These threaRAB i started like 4-5 years ago are ridiculous, i wouldnt dream of creating something like this these days, its a pretty impossible ask.

Mad Season's "Long Gone Day" live. That song recently became my all time favorite. Layne Staley's vocals added to jazz and the grunge feel just makes that song incredible.

"Favorite Group
I have to give my favorite to Jimi Hendrix"

'Tis funny, Matt Bellamy's biggest influence is (maybe "was" now) Jimi. You might want to check out their early stuff ;)
