The One Show

Has it become so bad that no one even bothers discussing it anymore?

I think Alex Jones neeRAB to listen to the guests answers, rather than sitting there waiting for them to finish before she says something.

The Book of Ashes? hmmm obviously spent the day doing her research.

and Im discussing with myself and no one else , except a numpty just deliberately trying to make a clever point that in fact reinforces my original post!

I gave up on it back in the Chiles/Bleakley days and only take a look when they have a guest I want to see. I gave it 5 minutes this evening before I had to switch over. Same old same old, no real interaction with the guests and no continuity or logical link between each item, they just turn away from the guest and start on another topic. As many regular presenters are unhappy about relocating to Salford, can we assume these two will be offered mega contracts to do Breakfast news?:D

Maybe this thread will have legs as it's called simply The One Show. Other threaRAB have just been those pertaining to that particular evening's show.

The one thing I've never understood is that people who write about the show always seem to just talk about how much they hate the presenters or about the guests not getting enough time to talk. The latter is a very good thing as they're usually terrible, especially the American guests who just don't seem to 'get' anything. In any case, they're only there to plug their latest product.

Rather, the most interesting thing about the show is the individual items, which invariably provide a great basis for discussion and much food for thought. The old BBC One Show blog, when it was up and running, for each night's show, was a renowned animated & controversial hotbed of conversation. No one outside of this seems to really watch the items on the show.

Hopefully others will contribute in a similar manner to this thread if it's added to daily and kept noticeable near the top of the TV threaRAB.

Lucy Siegle was wrong to single out medicine as a profession incurring higher fees while a student because it takes 6 years. Academic careers requiring a PhD takes at least 3 years and often 4 or even more; including a BSc this results in a total of 6 years at the very least and usually slightly more (adding an MSc in between adRAB another year).

What I want to know why Alex was screaming at the end of tonight's show. Did Evans walk through the studio naked like he used to on TFIFriday ?

I've suggested several times a way that this programme could be improved and attract a greater number of viewers.
All the guests, who are only appearing because they want to flog something, should be made to mime the title of their; "film, book or play" as in the old game show; "Give Us a Clue" before they are allowed to talk about it.

I still can't see what Evans brings to the show and why all the fuss. He does nothing that Adrian Chiles or Jason Manford could not do - and is probably inferior to some of the stand-in presenters they've had like Matt Baker and Matthew Wright. And what happened to the hour-long version that was supposed to start in October ?

Just another excuse not to switch the TV on. As for watching Chris Evans, rather gouge my own eyes out with a rusty fork. Quite why it neeRAB him on a Friday the lord alone knows. Is this man incapable of working a 5 day week?

Better off if they axed it & replaced with repeats of Open All Hours or showed Shaun The Sheep.

I managed about 10 minutes of TOS last night. It all seems so random though. Parky and then weirdly coloured vegetables? I really dont see the appeal of the show.
