The one horror film that scared the pants off you as a kid

I'll say Jaws, simply because I was very young when I first seen it, and I have never been so scared in my life! And, although i've seen it countless times now, that opening scene still freaks me out.

Have to give a mention to Halloween as well. My favourite horror of all time. Still scares the living daylights out of me. It's the way that Michael just walks slowly after his victims, but still manages to catch up with them. And, THAT music! Brilliant film, though.

I saw 'The Haunting', when I was 9 or 10 years old, and I slept with the light on, that night. I watch it once a year, at Halloween, and it still scares me, even though I know what's coming, and even though you never see anything! The fact that it was shot in b&w, only enhances the chilling effect.

First Horror film I ever saw was Salems Lot , My dad thought he was going to get great pleasure scaring the hell outta me when the vampire guy pops up in the jail scene.

If I remember rightly I was screaming so loud I scared my dad more haha !

The movie you're thinking of, is called 'Reflections Of Murder', a made-for-TV movie, from 1974. It starred Sam Waterston, Tuesday Weld and Joan Hackett. I will never forget the scene where Sam Waterston's character, supposedly dead, pops up out of the bath tub. There's also a nice little twist at the end. It was remade in 1996, and called Diabolique.

I just thought of the second one--I think it's called 'Don't Be Afraid Of The Dark (1973), starring Jim Hutton and Kim Darby.

I was always scared when Nightmare on Elm street was on. The scariest part for me was the babysitter killing, when shes wiped all across the ceiling and walls. I was also pertified of The Burning.

As a kid "Jaws" gave me nightmares.

Also "Hammer House Of Horror" Twins Of Evil. I always remember the scene of the hitch hiker in the yellow raincoat with the long nail.

Then as I got older to about 12 it was definetely watching "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre".

But nothing scared me as much as "Zombie Flesh Eaters" did.
