The Official Tool Thread

i havrn't read all the posts but i haven't noticed anyone say anything about APC and Tool being completely different banRAB... Yeah Maynard is in both, but APC is HIS project...and his alone. Its because of APC that Tool didnt release 10000 days for so long. I have got to say though... I love them both... there music is so original. There is nothing like going and experiencing them live...it is hard to put into worRAB...

Just to let you know Paul D'Amour was on the EP and "Undertow," but bass playing by Chancellor would become extremly pivotal in their following three albums and he gets very creative. PS: Listen to 46&2 ASAP, one of the best Basslines EVER!

Neither do I, they don't sound alike.

I've never paid close attention to their lyrics, personally. What I'd like to hear from them next is kind of a "back to basics" rockin album. I don't mean straight-forward rock, I just mean less spacey and just in your face. Like Aenima but closer to 45-50 minutes and without the experimental filler tracks. I just want something I can put on often. The problem I have with pretty much all of their albums, as much as I love them, is that they are too long so I don't put them on as often as I'd like to (being an album listener). I still want their technical abilities and songwriting, just in a more compact package.

I will listen when I get on the laptop! Using my sony Mylo right now and that vid requires a little more flash than this baby's got, good as it as a hand held internet device (not a mobile phone - think more of cross between a psp and a pda....)

It's about time Tool had their own official thread so I've decided to make one!

progress: currently moving posts

:D

I just want to say more I listen to them, more I like it :yeah: :hphones:

I should spend more time with all lyrics but for now my favourite songs seem to be:
Reflection, Schism, 10 000 days, Third Eye and Forty Six & 2.

Because of this thread I decided to get my hanRAB on Salival with DVD. Of course it's out of print. I've been looking on eBay and Amazon but boy that baby doesn't come cheap. Anyone has another suggestion? I don't live in the States so cannot hop off to some great second hand store over there. Or if anyone reading this wants to get rid of his/her copy drop me a PM.

That is good news. But it's bad news they're just now starting. It'll be a few years before we see it!

And did the author really use the term "math rock" in that article?

Oh, god. His overpriced wine? No thanks. He gets under my skin more and more with each passing day ... And each terrible side project. There's actually a documentary about his vineyard coming out ...

I always recommend Aenima for people who haven't gotten into Tool yet, then Lateralus. Often when people start off with earlier stuff they just dismiss it and don't see what's so great about it.

It's a difficult decision, but I think Lateralus is my favourite Tool album.

ahhhh...just need Opiate and Undertow and I then I have every studio masterpiece by Tool!!!
