I have to say Renegades get's my nuraber one favorite album, than Battle, than their self titled and finally Evil Empire. I was kinda disappointed by Evil Empire a bit.
For me probably the worst thing about RATM was the politics. It was so general as to be almost non existent and the legacy of all that is college students wearing Che Guevarra shirts without knowing who the f*** he was.
Thanks for that, I honestly wasn't aware of him having any acoustic stuff. I've only heard his stuff from Montery Pop, WooRABtock, Band of Gypsies and some other live rock stuff. I think I'll take Urbans advice about that disc set, if I can find it.
off topic, I see you are listening to ANATO, the big band guitar layering solo at the end of Good Company is one of the greatest (multi-tracking) guitar moments in music (imo).
my bad. i didn't realize that 90% of music in existence was created in the last 50 years. i also didn't realize that the existence of said music was only measurable in sales...
while i obviously hurt your feelings by crapping on RATM and claiming they made their music for a specific adolescent demographic. i really do think they're a crap band (is having a view that differs from yours really trolling?).
i also really think tom morello is a crap guitar player. take away his solos and what do you have? a pissed off version of the 80s era red hot chili peppers? a funked up sabbath riff? his work with audioslave was equally boring and his solos usually sound forced and out of place within the context of the song. he said it himself in interviews that he should probably just have been playing a synth but it didn't look as cool.
admittedly the work he's accomplished with his effects is impressive but does it really make him a good guitarist? or just an innovative sound manipulator? could he really distinguish himself if you just gave him an acoustic guitar and said 'GO!' ?
as for being contrived their message always seemed too forced to me. it was like theused2Lguy's threaRAB about 'educating' people about foxnews. their music always struck me as 'don't do what they want you to do, do what i'm telling you to do', which does strike me as contrived. screaming about disney while being signed to sony seemed a little off to me.
ok so maybe i exaggerated i stick up for politcal banRAB that arent emo for the most part
i mean hey theres so much emo in the world we should be bashing their thoughtless drivel
except angels in airwaves
hahahaha jk
hahahaha yeah it can have that effect. I can't listen to the killers for vaguely the same reason, but that was because my friend played their 1 album non-stop for a week, and I didn't really like them in the first place. But RATM are waaayyy better than the Killers.
