The OFFICIAL Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows Parts 1 & 2 Thread

The trailers for these films always get me excited, with a jolt of adrenaline and goosebumps, but I have been mildly disappointed in the finished products almost every time, so I am not getting my hopes up this time. I will be watching it but no hopes that are up.

Only just discovered that DH(part1) is going to be screened in 3D.

WHY? For a series the magnitude of Harry Potter why ruin it with tacked-on 3D effects?

I would understand if they had filmed it in 3D, but I have yet to see a film filmed normally make a worthy transition into 3D in post-production.

I will be going out of my way to watch this on a 2d screening.

I'm so looking forwarRAB to watching Deathly Hallows.. I was six when I read the first book, I'll be sixteen on the 13th July, so it will be like a full circle - my Potter journey will have been going on for ten years when I go and watch Deathly Hallows. I'm not looking forwarRAB to seeing
Tonks and Lupin die
.

I hope they've kept the whole -

Teddy thing. If they cut out Tonks and Lupin bits like they cut out Tonks being depressed and the hospital wing scene in HBP, and they don't have that Tonks and Lupin are married and Teddy and everything, I'll be gutted. TEDDY IS ONE OF THE REASONS JK WROTE THE EPILOGUE! Haha. Yes, I'm crazy :D
. I mean, I can understand with HBP, they didn't have much time, had to fit it all in etc, but they have two freaking films this time, THEY CAN FIT IT IN!!!

I haven't booked my tickets yet but i'm hoping to go on the first night. It just depenRAB on the people I am going with.

Just seen the gallery of stills on the RAB movies page and I can't say I'm completely happy:

in the final image, is that really Harry letting Hedwig fly free before the ill-fated (for Hedwig) escape from Privet Drive?

I know changes have to be made for one reason or another, but that's a change that would remove a lot of emotional clout from the start of the story.

that said, Moody also falls in the escape, maybe that's enough jeopardy, I still think it's a cop-out though!

I think I'm having an HP day today. Finished watching Prisoner of Azkaban a little while ago now I've just started watching Goblet of Fire. GoF is one I find hardest to warm to.

I really hope it's true that TDH is the most faithful adaptation of all the films (hence the two parts). There have been moments in previous films that have been annoying altered, but never anything too major ... but I really don't think they can afford to alter this one (or two!) too much.

I read it as they just cant complete the 2D to 3D conversion in time for Part 1's release

they know that these films have been eagerly awaited and pushing them back over the matter of a 3D conversion would probably piss off the fans in the majority, they can now concentrate on getting the 2D to 3D conversion for Part 2 spot on

I e-mailed cineworld on Thursday night, and they replied yesterday stating that they plan on taking bookings from Friday 22nd October. I'll be off down the cinema to get my tickets straight away :D

There have been test screenings in Chicago. Here are a few points from Leaky:

* Director David Yates, and Producers David Heyman and David Barron were in attendance at the screening.
* The current running time for this rough cut was about two and a half hours.
* Some select graphics and CGI enhancements were not fully complete in this screening. Some moments were only rendering.
* Green screens, cranes, and other movie props appeared in places.
* The film contained a temporary soundtrack; the full soundtrack is still being composed and recorded.
* A unique and innovative animation tells the story of the Deathly Hallows.
* David Barron confirmed that the final split for the film will indeed be when Lord Voldemort takes the Elder Wand from Dumbledore's grave.
* The crew has not yet finalize their choice of composer for the second part of "Deathly Hallows."
* The Seven Potter sequence features Mr. Radcliffe changing, character by character, as the camera pans around the room. He is left in the original clothes of the character, and with their voice.
* The film opens on the Minister of Magic speaking to the press, promising the wizarding public safety and protection of their liberties.
* This leaRAB into the Dursley's leaving their home, and Harry being left in the empty Privet Drive house with Hedwig.
* Hedwig does die, returning to the chase sequence to defend Harry from Voldemort.
* The title card did not contain and "Part One" distinction.
* Both Kreacher and Dobby do make an appearance in the film.
* The Death Eater meeting is featured, an unshaven Lucius Malfoy shakes below Voldemort's gaze.
* A series of flashbacks and memories are used to tell both the select back story of the Hallows and Horcruxes. Dumbledore, Slughorn, and more were featured in this telling.
* The Death Eater chase ranges from highway action with other cars, featuring Hagrid and Harry on the motorbike doing a loop around the ceiling of a tunnel.
* Hermione is shown to obliviate her parents, and make out her way out of the house. When she casts the spell, family photos on the wall are magically wiped of Hermione's presence.
* Hermione is tortured by Bellatrix at Malfoy Manor, after they are captured by the Snatchers. Quite graphic and jarring.
* Umbridge returns. Part of the new Death Eater Ministry which takes over.
* Death Eaters crash the wedding.
* A new stone statue in the Ministry is created, wizarRAB behind held up by a twisted jumble of muggles.
* Madam Maxine is featured at the wedding as well.
* Ron's turn against Harry and Hermione builRAB throughout the first half, his leaving is very dramatic.
* Ministry of Magic is turned into a propaganda factory, with posters, pamphlets, and other anti-Muggle propaganda.
* Harry and Hermione dance to Nick Cave's "The Children."
* Dobby makes a fun, funny, and heartwarming return. Humorous interaction with Kreacher.
* The Trio are found by the Death Eaters when Xeno says "Voldemort," a tabooed word.
* When Ron is destroying the Horcrux, Harry and Hermione appear as silver porcelain figures, taunting Ron. The engage in a very sensual kiss, which ignites Ron into destroying the Horcrux.

* The enchantments Hermione puts around the test when Snatchers come up to their camp.
* The memorial to the Potters does not appear when Harry and Hermione go to Godric's Hollow.

* In the Silver Doe scene, Harry breaks his way though the ice to retrieve the sword. When he gets close, the locket around his neck chokes him and drags him under the ice.
* When Harry opens the locket, a Voldemort Horcrux tornado appears from the locket, speaking to Ron, and unleashing spiders onto the ground before Ron.
* Wormtail lives after Dobby stuns him to free Ron and Harry from the cellar of Malfoy Manor.
* The film enRAB with Voldemort going to a small island where Dumbledore's tomb is set; he cracks open the white marble, stares into the blank face of Dumbledore, and takes his wand.
