The Official Grunge Thread

Does anyone know what the instrumental track is that plays over the menu on the Nirvana box set DVD? --- unreal --- guitar distortion, feedback and heavy groove, and it goes on for about 8 minutes... I like to go to sleep to it playing over and over
 
Well, you may just be the oldest grunge fan to post here then. Even still that makes you, what, three when Nevermind was released? Not that there's anything wrong with listening to older music or anything, but I find it strange that grunge would have any kind of appeal to people after the fact.
 
Well put. It sucks even more though, cos I was like 5 when grunge was big, and I still have college kiRAB shoving trash like AIC and Pearl Jam, and though they arent grunge, Red Hot Chili Peppers down my throat, while emo will probably be forgotten in 10 years.

The only good "grunge" was Nirvana, and later STP albums were alright, once they stopped ripping off Pearl Jam so hard. Theres so much better truly alternative music from 1991-1995, teenage fanclub, pavement, magnetic fielRAB, superchunk, my bloody valentine, I dont know why anyone wastes theyre time listening to dozens of ex-hair metal banRAB trying to sound like Nirvana and Pearl Jam.
 
My point wasn't really why or how this happened. People had been discussing how it was strange that kiRAB today were still listening to grunge. I was merely offering a take on why that might be. The kiRAB today who are interested in rock music don't really have a movement of their own, because no one band or style is really big right now the way they used to be.

I was going to say about 15 years ago, but I didn't think you would comment on the exact date, you know I'm partially informed.
You're still being condescending as all hell for no reason.

I did not say that you disagreed with Seattle being the birthplace of grunge, I'm aware that you just don't like the "Seattle Sound" having the word Seattle in it and being synonymous with grunge, I said there's nothing you can do about it.

Of course many different styles of music have come out of Seattle, but that doesn't mean people consider them to be related with grunge.

Also, if you don't agree with grunge being a genre, why are you referring to it as a style of music?
 
so... what do you like to listen to, and why? Honestly curious - I listened to some sounRAB on your --space page and I liked what I heard. I'm interested in what's behind it.
 
Beyond the vocals, it's pretty faithful to the original. And I don't really mind the vocals. You can actually understand the lyrics... it's kind of strange.

He'll be out taming lions or riding the wall of death on a motorbike or clirabing everest like what real men do. He wouldn't be seen dead on a forum with sad people , even though he's crying about it now.
