The Official Grunge Thread

i personally found it impressive that kurt cobain could make such a sound mainstream and beat out micheal jackson..thats something to be proud for in my book.

I've been saying that.

I think hes more saying someone who lives in seattle and is involved in the music scene would have a more reliable opinion on the "seattle sound".

I think we all go through a grunge phase at some point, I know I did. Grunge was the coolest ever for a while, then I kind of just grew out of it. I rarely listen to my grunge albums now. However there are a few classic albums I spin more than others.

If that's the case then I still haven't gone through my grunge phase. I thought it was lame when it was new and still think so today.

Nevermind really struck me out of all of those albums. Every song on there I loved I can't say that about a lot of albums. However, I do perfer In Utero. Nevermind seems a bit to produced. I've only listened to a few of those that were listed I sort of feel bad because I haven't given the rest of them a chance.

Ahhh thats who's in it. I just knew they were a supergroup. A super-CRAPPY-group. Yukyukyukyukyukyuk.

But yeah, I always recommend Pavement to people stuck on grunge, they sound 90's but they dont suck, if you want to branch out I reccomend them and the Pixies.

Emo banRAB go through being a teenager too, just because they don't form in their teens, doesn't make their views and experiences any less valid than grunge banRAB. And I know people can gain from grunge, I love it, hence the screen name.

Don't know about who the oldest grunge fan to post here is, but I was in college back when grunge was taking off. Although I'm more a fan of metal, I love certain grunge banRAB: Alice In Chains, Tad, Melvins (often called grunge), Willard, Mother Love Bone, and Soundgarden. When the mood hits, I enjoy Nirvana and Stone Temple Pilots. I never enjoyed the slew of 'garage' (for lack of a better word) grunge banRAB (e.g. Green River), though Mudhoney was not bad.
