The Official Grunge Thread

Haha grunge_junkie...
And really mainstream is what made the artists hate it, but it can still sound good.
Hopefully no one here didn't just go through a Led Zeppelin phase. XD

Absolutely not.

You tell me what Dire Staits and Genesis have in common, what their sylistic similarities are... Classic Rock is a genre used to describe virtually every non-punk rock act from the 70s that had modest popularity, it's the broadest and most pointless term in the music world, but on the plus side saying you think all classic rock is "*** cliched crap" dosen't suggest an open mind.

Snickers has been right about pretty much everything.

Heh. That's an understatement. Grunge was basically the default style of rock music during that time period. It was everywhere, including on the cover of Time magazine:

That's an interesting take on it. I've wondered if the high school kiRAB who are into grunge today are kind of like the equivalent of the kiRAB who were really into classic rock when I was in high school. Though I have to say I don't really remeraber those kiRAB attaching any particular ideology to the music they listened to.

Not really, I couldn't relate at the time, the songs were just cool. But at my teens, when all the emotions flooded in, music was a hiding place, and grunge had iron doors.

have you met with each of them personally?

Chris Cornell And Eddie seem happy with their success...

i don't think too many starving-artists are gonna turn down millions in order to have more local cred..

It can, but in the case of grunge it didn't. I like a lot of the music that directly influenced grunge but not grunge itself.
